Name your files cleverly
Most of your images are probably named something like “IMG” plus a bunch of numbers. They all look the same and it’s a nightmare to find the right one.
Rename photos so they are easy to find
Renamer is the best tool to batch rename your files. And you absolutely should do it.
For example, my Mac has a few hundred photos from Setapp photoshoots. And I can always find them easily, without having to move them to one folder. Renamer’s Find and Replace is my secret weapon. Here’s how it works:
Drop your images onto Renamer (make it a habit to process all new images with Renamer)
Choose Find and Replace in the sidebar
Replace the generic “IMG” with “Setapp” or any other word
Click Apply
Find the renamed images in their original location.
Number, change extensions, and more
Naming is only part of it. You can change file extensions of multiple files, number them sequentially, organize songs by albums or titles, and more. Renamer has ready-to-use renamerlets, which are basically macros for running different quick actions. But you can also set up your own renamerlets by clicking the plus button in the left sidebar.
