A handy app launcher for Mac
Dock is not perfect. You can’t put every app you use into this pretty limited bar. Luckily, you can put everything into start. This handy menu bar utility automatically collects every app accessible via Spotlight. From Apple’s default programs to installed apps. Launch it all from one place and forget the fuss.
Once you install start, you’ll see your utilities already organized by tags such as Apple, Office, Development, and more. You can search through these pre-made collections or continue customizing them as you like. The app also offers quick access to recently used programs.
Using drag and drop you can easily move files and directories to an application entry. The dropped items will then be opened with the selected application. This will save you the time of searching saved changes and opening files all over again once you launch an app.
In the Data section, you can change the basic configurations like adding tags, attaching notes, and customizing entry colors. For a complex organization, add as many tags as you like and separate them with the | symbol to create subtags. So that things never get too complicated.
Not fast enough? You can create your custom hotkeys and assign them to entries for a faster app launch. To create hotkeys, right-click on any app and change the hotkey in the bottom of the window. From here, you can also change entry colors and add tags or comments.
For the users of macOS Mojave and later, the start app has Dark Mode support — so that you enjoy your app search in any color.
