Extract non-selectable text from images, videos, or PDFs with TextSniper
Ever needed to extract text from an image or other media but didn't have much time or resources? TextSniper may be just what you need.
With the help of this app, you can extract text from literally anywhere: images, PDFs, YouTube videos, presentations, and more. Let us show you how.
How does TextSniper work?
The TextSniper app uses advanced OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology that allows you to highlight the area of an image/video that contains the text you want to capture. Once you have selected the desired area, TextSniper automatically captures the text and extracts it into a clean and easy-to-read plain text format by adding it to your clipboard.
Follow these steps to extract the text:
- Press Shift + Command + 2 and grab any area on the screen that has text (for example, text from a Twitter image).
- TextSniper will notify you that it has copied the text instantly.
- Press Command + V to paste a text to the notes, editor, messenger, or any other app.
TextSniper also supports foreign languages such as French, Japanese, Spanish, Ukrainian, German, Italian, Portuguese, Korean, Chinese, and more.
Paste text from images
Command + V to paste the text you’ve just grabbed to your notes app or text editor. Nothing new, just the usual pasting shortcut. That’s it!
Text to speech
You can let TextSniper read text from an image on your Mac whenever you need it. This is a valuable addition for those learning foreign languages or people who have trouble reading text on the screen or have dyslexia.
QR code and barcode reader
Did you know that QR codes and barcodes can be easily captured, extracted, and converted to text with TextSniper? It's probably not the most common task on the web, but the app can come in handy if you find yourself encountering them on a regular basis.
