Gitfox keep losing track of the COmmits. Just stops detecting new commits. If I use FORK all is jst fine… This is not robust.

If you have a repository with a lot of branches and commits the UI becomes unusable, I cannot even scroll in the commits because is constrantly freezing (I’m using Apple M2 Pro)

How many are "a lot" of branches, if I may ask? In your case, disabling the automatic merge check will brobably help (Right Click on a Branch > Disable "Display Merged Branches").

I'm so impressed with this git client. Embrace the arrow keys, and bounce around the UI with speed and efficiency.

Very slow on large repositories, freezes on every click.

We test Gitfox with very large repositories. Please contact support, as the issue might lie somewhere else.

I adopted SetApp primarly after Tower started charging per year, as there was an alternative GIT app included. This app does a decent job, but the commit modal is the most infuriating design choice that I come to hate/put up with multiple times per day. You have to constantly close and re-open the dialog to see the changeset, as it covers the diff view, in order to remind yourself of what you want to write. I really wish they would reconisder this choice. It is truly my primary complaint with the app. The app itself is also quite slow to update and render on an Intel Mac. It is better on Apple Silicon, but dreadfully slow to render on my iMac which while old, is still a 4.2 GHZ machine I would not expect to struggle as it seems to with Gitfox. Would love to see some tuning there.

The vast majority of the reason I use a git GUI is to stage individual lines of code instead of arbitrary hunks. This app doesn’t seem able to do that. UPDATE: I clicked around in the gutter and finally discovered that you have to click and drag in the gutter to select and unselect lines. This toggles the selected state of each line you drag over. This is an undiscoverable and infuriating UX and I stand by my initial review. If you could select and deselect lines by just clicking once on them (the line or the gutter), that would be great.

Best git client I’ve used in years. I particularly like the chnages view. I still prefer the command line for most operations but when I need to get a clearer view of what has changed I reach for this app.

Pretty good so far, not used to using a GUI for git, so there is a learning curve to it.

Amazing app. I was trialing Tower and prepared to pay for that before discovering Gitfox, and I’ll be sticking with Gitfox for sure! Love the UI and workflow.
