What's the difference between Membership and the Marketplace?

Membership gives you access to all 330+ apps for a single monthly fee — the more apps you use, the better the value. The Marketplace lets you subscribe to individual apps at per-app pricing. You can start with one and upgrade to Membership at any time.

Is a payment method required to start the Membership trial?

Yes. You need a valid payment method to activate the trial. You won't be charged until day 8 — and you can cancel any time before that with no charge at all. A reminder email goes out on day 6 so you're never caught off guard.

Do I need to download anything to use Marketplace apps?

No. Marketplace apps install directly without the Setapp client. The client is only needed for Membership. If you're subscribing to a single Marketplace app, just find it, subscribe, and install — no extra software needed first.

What happens to my apps if I cancel my Membership?

Apps stop working when your current billing period ends. Your files and data stay on your device — Setapp doesn't delete anything. Resubscribe at any time to immediately regain full access to everything.

Can I switch from a Marketplace subscription to Membership?

Yes, and the transition is seamless. Your account carries over, your app data stays intact, and you immediately get access to the full catalog. If you're already using 3 or more Marketplace apps, Membership usually works out cheaper.

Are Setapp apps the same as buying directly from the developer?

Yes. You get the full premium version — same features, same updates. The difference is access method: through Setapp rather than a standalone license. Updates are handled automatically so you're always on the latest version.
