Has a hard time choosing the correct language. i speak in danish and it types russian

I very much enjoy this app.

Keyboard shortcuts conflict with default system shortcuts. Very basic stuff. But Setapp loves to add vibecoded apps

The speed at which this transcribes and makes available the transcription is slow and limits the usefulness of the app

Love the app, It is my go-to as I work from. I notice the AI polish does take a bit of time before the text appears, which I expected this as local LLM model is required. Accuracy is pretty good. Few times where I needed to pronounce clearer for the word to be corrected.

Love the app! But it feels like it’s only for native English speakers, not Indonesian speakers. It would be better if the developer provided default settings for the main and second languages. *By the way, I write this review with this app

I’ve used dictation/transcription apps for decades. Once upon a time ’training’ and a’highly recommended mic’ were keys to creating documents with an acceptable error count. Today, JoyType just works and it’s stunningly accurate. My thanks to the developer(s).

Great idea, and I really wanted this to work… especially with the AI polishing done locally. However, the delay between talking and text with AI polishing activated is much longer than reasonable, and about 20% of the time it misses a full stretch of recording. This requires more manual proofing than is reasonable, and vastly more than Wispr. With AI polishing turned off, your voice precision has to be spot on for it to be usable.

Awesome, App, I use to create mind maps, for couses, the capture was great. I love the the app works locally, because sometimes I experimenting internet issues and the app works really good. Keep doing a great job. Congratulations. Waiting for the iPhone app

Very useful app, and I love that it has a hold down keyboard shortcut rather than a toggle like MacOS. The transcription is fast and accurate. I would love to see 2 features in future releases: ability to see the typing while I talk, and being able to dictate punctuation. Keep up the good work!!

Tried Wisper, Dictato, etc. JoyType has been the most reliable and accurate that I’ve used.

This app is interesting, but it goes too far in simplicity. It offers nothing new or better than other Setapp apps, such as MurmurType. My wishlist includes: 1) Letting users set their own key bindings due to limited options. 2) Improving the AI polish feature's speed, as it's very slow and unsuitable for time-sensitive tasks, with better performance and privacy options available elsewhere. 3) Adding an option to disable auto-pasting after transcripts and a visual indicator. These changes would greatly enhance the app.

Concept is good, but a few issues: #1 as others have noted, you need to enable user-set keys (including multi key-stroke combinations) to enable the speech-to-text to start. #2 The icon in the menu bar keeps disappearing, and there is no way to get it back.

This is amazing! I love that you can use voice dictation literally everywhere instead of typing.

Since 2 days, the app is not working anymore: ! Needs Attention: | Restart Dictation I deleted all files and app but no success. Any ideas? If it is working again - directly a huge thumps up!

Did not work on my mac M1

This is a fantastic addition to Setapp, but having come from Wisprflow. It is not quite up to par with it yet in terms of speed and AI corrections, shortcuts, etc. I understand the reasons why that it is a local installation rather than a cloud installation, not to mention the millions in funding and teams of engineers no doubt Wisprflow has received! To get even close to it in the way JoyType has is a marvellous achievement. If you haven't used WhisperFlow then JoyType is an essential tool you need to use. Looking forward to seeing how this app develops and improves and hopefully switching over to it in the near future. Great work!
