What a terrible App! No way for an automated workflow, just a bunch of more or less useful OCR functions.

It opens .pdf files ( after starting a new file you can open PDFs as images) and it saves PDFs ( there is an option to “export as PDF” in the file menu ). The negative reviews on this app are WILD.

I saves into a propirantary file type. I want create pdf files.

I'm satisfied with the good OCR results. The language settings used for OCR are set to English and Japanese, but they are not automatically recognized, and you need to set them at the bottom of the GUI, which also returns to normal on each page. . Make sure you can set the main language.

Text recognition is okay, but there’s a lot of good options for that. Export to a word doc is miserable, the result is unusable and unreadable

Very high quality OCR. I used it for a giant document for AI analysis. Perfect.

I’ve only just started with it on a book project. You can open a PDF, and other files on a Mac. Drag it into the Prizmo window, or choose ‘New’ from the File menu and click on the ‘Open Image File…’ This opens the Finder browse file window, and Prizmo lets you pick PDF, jpg… ‘Open Image File’ I read as ‘open the file in which your scanned image is in, including PDF. Choosing the ‘Open’ option in the File Menu is for opening a Primo file. I’m adding this, cos this caught me out at the start too!

Useless on a Mac - cannot open jpeg, png, bmp or pdf files.

Won’t OCR “any document”. Will not process a PDF document.

Why can’t the app open pdfs? Isn’t that what most people use OCR for?

great app for OCR, specially supports Vietnamese - with very accurate - over 90% accuracy! Really a gem

This app might be overkill depending on your OCR needs, but of all the apps I have used to OCR (PDF Expert, NitroPDF) it has the most professional OCR scans. It takes a bit longer, but its ability to adjust OCR levels and enable user editing of OCR put it well ahead of those products. For just reading etc, the other apps are fine, but if you want a professional OCR (especially of older documents) this is the better app.
