Since 2 days, the app is not working anymore: ! Needs Attention: | Restart Dictation I deleted all files and app but no success. Any ideas? If it is working again - directly a huge thumps up!

Did not work on my mac M1

This is a fantastic addition to Setapp, but having come from Wisprflow. It is not quite up to par with it yet in terms of speed and AI corrections, shortcuts, etc. I understand the reasons why that it is a local installation rather than a cloud installation, not to mention the millions in funding and teams of engineers no doubt Wisprflow has received! To get even close to it in the way JoyType has is a marvellous achievement. If you haven't used WhisperFlow then JoyType is an essential tool you need to use. Looking forward to seeing how this app develops and improves and hopefully switching over to it in the near future. Great work!

Keyboard command conflicts with InDesign. Seems no way to change.

Love the app but it is unusable for me because I can’t set it to hands free recording (listening without touching a key the whole time) and can’t set my own shortcut combination (option + space in my case)

Love the app, It is my go-to as I work from. I notice the AI polish does take a bit of time before the text appears, which I expected this as local LLM model is required. Accuracy is pretty good. Few times where I needed to pronounce clearer for the word to be corrected.

Love the app! But it feels like it’s only for native English speakers, not Indonesian speakers. It would be better if the developer provided default settings for the main and second languages. *By the way, I write this review with this app

I’ve used dictation/transcription apps for decades. Once upon a time ’training’ and a’highly recommended mic’ were keys to creating documents with an acceptable error count. Today, JoyType just works and it’s stunningly accurate. My thanks to the developer(s).

This is a really useful and easy to use piece of software. Most of the time it produces text that is an exact transcription. Occasionally it throws up a random phrase that's nothing like what I'm saying. But ninety-five percent of the time it's great. Does it handle questions? Yes it does. I'm using it now to write this review. It can sense by the tone of my voice if it needs a question mark. Very clever. And it recognizes names too and capitalises them. Would be nice to have the option for it to learn my voice. When I say “oh”, it likes to type “uh”. Must be my accent. All in all, though, I love it.

Awesome, App, I use to create mind maps, for couses, the capture was great. I love the the app works locally, because sometimes I experimenting internet issues and the app works really good. Keep doing a great job. Congratulations. Waiting for the iPhone app

Very useful app, and I love that it has a hold down keyboard shortcut rather than a toggle like MacOS. The transcription is fast and accurate. I would love to see 2 features in future releases: ability to see the typing while I talk, and being able to dictate punctuation. Keep up the good work!!

Tried Wisper, Dictato, etc. JoyType has been the most reliable and accurate that I’ve used.

It does the job.

Honestly great, considering it runs entirely on local. I suggest combining it with “Pinchbar”, another app included in Setapp, in order to polish up your dictation. For sure a huge step up from the built-in Mac dictation experience! Looking forward to see this get even better with time.
