I think the app is pretty good but from time to time, it fails to insert the saved phrase and instead inserts the contents of the clipboard. So, needs a bit of work. But I do like it and I am definitely going to continue using it.

The app has great potential. It's fast, the design looks good, but the user experience is suboptimal (as some other users already noted). With simple changes to the UX, this could be one of the best text expansion apps. Note to the developer: If you are interested, don't hesitate to get in touch with me for some low-hanging fruit changes to the UX that could really make a difference. I'm interested in this because I really want to replace another text expansion app with Rocket Typist, but the UX is impractical for fast and easy use. I'm primarily a web app developer, so unfortunately, I can't help much on the dev side. Thanks for listening, Mislav

Rocket Typist quite often stops working — i.e., it just ignores the shortcuts being typed, and not even quitting and re-opening the program gets it working again. I just can’t recommend a program that acts this way. - - - Previous review: Rocket Typist is good. It could be great with some more flexible options like changing how it pastes based on the application it’s pasting into, exporting whole folders to a single text file (which would make it easier to adapt Rocket Typist shortcuts for use with iOS’ Settings > General > Keyboard > Text Replacement), and the ability to act on highlighted text (for instance changing case or converting spaces to dashes). But I’d definitely recommend it for what it already does!

The app has several issues that affect usability. It sometimes flashes when managing expansions, and iOS does not always recognize expansions correctly. Expansions may need to be created twice before they work, and some expansions have been deleted unexpectedly. Trashed snippets still activate, and the snippet count is inaccurate. The “export all” feature does not export all snippets as expected. The process for assigning expansion key letters is awkward, and the settings are confusing. The app’s developer has not responded to support emails, leaving these problems unresolved. Onward I go to another text expansion app.

Had backgroundtaskmanagementd use ~20% CPU constantly. Keyboard was occasionally missing strokes. Saw Rocket Typist in open files of backgroundtaskmanagementd so quit it and CPU use instantly dropped to 0%, keyboard butter smooth. Feeling lucky I found it quickly.

The interface for this app is bizarre and not intuitive. The most frustrating aspect is the date snippet tool which doesn’t work as expected.

Bin von aText zu Rocket gewechselt. Bisher viele Abstürze, 2 x sind die kompletten Daten verschwunden. Bisher für mich kein Vergleich zu aText und ich überlege auch wieder zu wechseln. Hilfreich wäre ein Erklärvideo zu den Funktionen.

The “app just stops working within a week or two and needs to be reinstalled completely” problem seems to be fixed, and as promised I am updating my rating. I do think the user interface could be a bit mroe intuitive, but it’s hardly bad. Overall this is a very useful app.

I like the functionality and especially the sync through iCloud. The interface could be more no nonsense. As long term user of aText, I find the UI (although less pretty) quicker to navigate.

love it but the most frustrating part is that things aren’t available from device to device and exporting/importing is a partial transfer at best. This saves my life on a daily basis, though, for real.

Buena idea, pero ejecución desastrosa. La idea detrás de Rocket Typist es prometedora, pero la ejecución está plagada de errores básicos que hacen que la app sea prácticamente inutilizable para un entorno de trabajo serio. El texto automático funciona una vez, y a partir de ahí, nada. Te ves obligado a pegar manualmente los snippets (cuando tienes suerte y aún están disponibles). Pero lo peor llega al editar manualmente un snippet: es una auténtica tortura. Supongo que el problema está relacionado con algún sistema de sincronización en segundo plano, pero no hay manera de desactivarlo. Los cambios desaparecen, se sobrescriben o simplemente no se guardan. Un sinsentido. Al final, lo que debería ser una herramienta para ganar productividad se convierte en justo lo contrario: más trabajo, más frustración y menos fiabilidad. Tendré que volver a TextExpander, que al menos cumple con lo que promete. Una pena, porque la idea es buena. Pero así, no.

Hit or mis unfortuanatelly. So I can’t 100% rely on on it to work: Features are great. But it doesn’t always seen to respond. A deamon/agent issue? 10/15% of the time in doesn’t react/expand. Usually rebooting mac OS fixes the issue. Hope it will become more dependable in future updates. Thumbs up though! It’s full of features and nicely designed. If it my Mac could be causing the intermitted issues, let me know dev :)

Great app. It took a little time to set up, but it works perfectly to replace automatically abbreviations to formatted text in my documents.

Great tool. Saves time. Nearly an indispensable tool for more efficient work.

It’s been getting a lot better. Being able to run AI prompts or scripts on the fly it’s amazing. At first, it slowed down my computer a lot while processing the imported snippets, but after that, it runs smoothly.

Had to restart app for it to start working. Kind of confusing to set up. Can’t use snippet images in Google Docs or in Gmail. Documentation isn’t very good, and some features listed in the documentation do not exist, at least in this version of the app. Is the Setapp version a stripped-down version of the full app? If so, that seems kinda crappy.

The shortcuts app is great, but Rocket types sometimes all the data, which happened after 4 months of using. No backup, all data lost.

Seems impossible to contact developer. Date Macro for Custom Hour: seems not possible to use the 24h format. Also, seems impossible to get 6h22, you need to use capital H (you then can only get 6H22).
