Not horrible but it has some severe problems: 1. changing display-only settings while listening to a song interrupts the playback of the song—why are these not handled by different threads? 2. settings that should be different for audio files and video files—such as whether to play from where you last left off—are not separated... it becomes necessary to just turn this off entirely even though it would be useful for video, because it makes the app completely unusable when playing music files There are many other smaller issues, but that's all I remember right now.

It’s been really smooth experience using the player. I uninstalled VLC and this is now my only video player. The option do download subtitles for movies natively is such a great thing to have!

Can’t adjust the progress bar easily — not as smooth or convenient as IINA.

I like this app because it let me play a movie that I downloaded and it worked very well for what it is meant to do.

My favourite video player! Back when I was poor I would just use the free version, and it felt extortionate to pay the one time fee for the pro version, but after finding it on setapp, I have been in video watching heaven! All the features I missed out on in the free version are here and are working marvellously, couldn’t have asked for a better player. Please keep on updating and improving 🙏

Your app has become pretty much unusable for me. When I try to skip ahead on the progress bar, there is a delay of 1-2 seconds. So I’m back to using VLC and IINA, even though I had switched to Elmedia because of other frustrations with both. I like Elmedia, but I cannot use it in its present state. Please fix.

Unlike other apps, including Movist Pro (also available on Setapp), Elmedia Player cannot handle HDR playback, resulting in any HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision clip appearing in SDR with a vivid, bright pink hue. Yikes!

Slick interface, good macOS integration, supports many video and audio codecs and container formats. The one big thing that is missing is DLNA client/receiver support: While Elmedia Player can act as a DLNA source/transmitter, it’s unfortunately not possible to use it as a browser and playback device for existing DLNA media libraries.

Really nice app. I’ve grown accustom to it playing everything I throw at it. What’s more, it handles large files and obscure codecs better than a well known open source player that I’ve used for a long time.
