It’s pretty good at doing what it says it does, and I’ve increased my battery life using it. Often, using the option to make an app use the ‘effciency cores’ of my 4-processor laptop is enough. It would be nice if the app had a little more nuance and clarity in its recommendations and options. Update: sometimes seems to choke the computer performance. Also, the UI design is a little intrusive and distracting.

I like it - works as madvertised :)

App Tamer seems to keep crashing. I mean, I like the idea of this, but if it was stable, I think it would be a great app.

Very Useful! Great for seeing whos hogging my mem

This software slows down the machine. At first glance, you can check what’s happening with the apps, but as you continue using it, the entire system starts to lag. I uninstalled all the apps from Setapp except this one, but the issue remained. Then I tried using it outside of Setapp, and once again, the machine started slowing down, so I decided to stop using it altogether.

Interferes with normal running of my laptop, rather than improving it. I’ve removed it.

Love this app! Particularly helpful for regulating traffic with macbooks as they start to age (preventing freeze-ups).

Love it - it’s a great help to keep things under control.

It used to be very effective but recently I’ve found that the com.stclairsoft.AppTamer.Helper process is using more CPU than all of the other processes it’s supposed to be monitoring combined.

Let's me keep an eye (and a lid) on processes eating up CPU. I discovered that leaving Apple Photos open in the background was not a good idea.

Great app helping e.g. with 100% utilization from video on web pages on my old Intel iMac. 100% recommendation!

It is a great way to monitor the load at a glance. The menu window is very well thought through, and the ability to control processes can be helpful to control unruly processes, though I’m not using it too much. When the Mac is seriously overloaded, App Tamer sometimes loses itself and asks to install its helper. That’s a slight problem, not disturbing me too much.

I downloaded this app with such great enthusiasm and read positive reviews, but after a few days of trying it out, I’m finally deleting it. I’m not sure if it’s me or generally this isn’t a good fit for my workflow, but instead of speeding up my Mac (M2 Pro 2023), it started slowing down apps that I was actively working on. It took me a while to connect the dots, but the moment I permanently stopped “taming” the apps, everything started working without any lag or jitters.

A helpful tool not only for limiting power usage but also to identify potentially buggy CPU hogs.

Unable to tame cli processes. All CPU usage counted as the Terminal.app itself.

Seems like it could be useful, BUT, it needs to tell you what the process (app/daemon) slowing your computer is. How do you know if you want to limit something if you don’t know what it is?

Funcional, sirve para lo que esta hecha. Util si quieres saber que aplicaciones estan consumiendo mas recursos en tu mac. La veo muy util para quienes tenemos una macbook con poca ram, se complementa muy bien con Cleanmymac.
