Confusing. Poor UI design. While simple it is not intuative. Simple things like moving app window is not possible. Creating groups uses a settings prompt like method. It feels like you are adding a printer instead of being intuative. Would not recommend.

Sorry to hear you're not happy with how Daily looks & feels. Daily is designed to run in your menu bar, which is why you cannot move the dialog. Not sure what you mean with a "settings prompt like method", but. you can manage activities and groups via the Activity Manager. See this article for more information: https://dailytimetracking.com/blog/how-to-manage-activities. If you need additional help, or want to discuss improvements, please reach out to [email protected].

For the most part, it’s a nice little app, except I sometimes end up with way too much time if I haven’t stopped it and don’t remember exactly when I stopped. However, it keeps asking me to buy a license, even though I’ve installed it twice through SetApp. I just updated my system and it’s asking again, so I assume I then have to log all my hours somewhere and reinstall it again. Shouldn’t it have some way of knowing that I’m using it through SetApp? It would also be great to have the export spreadsheet also convert hours to decimal format for invoicing, and also very useful to have that ‘last used’ date in the spreadsheet as well.

Thanks for your review! Daily should not ask you to purchase a license when on a SetApp license. Can you reach out to [email protected] so I can see what's going wrong? Thanks!

Sorry to read this. Note that Daily isn't the usual time tracker: it works by periodically asking what you are doing. Hence, no need to toggle timers when you switch tasks. Export function is buggy with the colons and everything. I couldn’t get a useful export at all with any format. I also set dialog section to be active inside a time frame however that exceeded selected hours sometimes. Should be improved.

Have you tried the other export options, such as using commas as the separator and importing the resulting CSV file into Excel? Feel free to reach out to [email protected] so I can help you better.

I’m a UX researcher and cannot emphasize enough how much the learnability and ease of use are A+ for this app. I love how simple the interface is and that there aren’t too many features — exactly the right ones for my freelance life. I also have ADHD, and it helps tremendously with time blindness, which was a happy surprise. Keep up the good work! My only suggestion for accessibility and clarity is to add text labels to the icons. There was a bit of experimentation to figure them out. Mental models around icons vary A LOT. Finding the hamburger icon on the bottom right was also a surprise. Top left is where I go on autopilot — Jakob’s Law. :D

Hard to change entries if you selected a wrong entry by accident. The app has a basic premise. And it does what it is supposed to. But the management UI needs some help.

I generally like the idea of the app. Problem of my usage though is when I am in a meeting or something I might just click any of the buttons to get rid of the message. Later on its hard to understand what was logged to sort stuff out. If there would be a timeline what was logged throughout the day one could correct entries or so based on the calendar entries and other stuff.

Resposta do Desenvolvedor

8 de abr. de 2025

Thanks for your feedback; it definitely makes sense. A timeline (or anything else that shows what you've been doing throughout a specific day) isn't there for simplicity purposes. I plan to add a feature that avoids periodic prompts during screen recording sessions and asks what you've been doing after such a session has ended. It would definitely be nice if it can take information from the calendar to pre-populate the activity. Stay tuned!

I found this hard to use because you can’t enter time or adjust the time frames manually, and the interface was pretty non-intuitive.

Thanks for your review. See this FAQ for (video) instructions on how to manually add and edit entries: https://dailytimetracking.com/support#faq-manual. In short, simply click the + (plus) button to add, and an existing duration to edit.

First of all, it's worth reading this article: https://dailytimetracking.com/blog/time-tracking-without-using-timers. It explains the basics and concepts of Daily. Right now, the dialog asking what you're doing cannot be moved. You can close it by either clicking on the X (which discards time; see above article) or clicking on the dots and choose Quit Daily. This will stop the app (and hence, the time tracking process). If you need any help, please reach out to [email protected].

Looks good, like the minimalism. Think it could work but it’s just not for me at this time. I need a stopwatch and I thought this would have it given the red recording button. That said, I like the idea and might give it another shot later sometime.

I’d like the app to display the timer when I click on start recording. When you click on the red button nothing happens so it kinda feels like it’s not working. I’m never really sure its recording my time..

Resposta do Desenvolvedor

Daily doesn't use timers to track time. Instead, it tracks time by periodically asking what you are doing. This way, you don't have to think about tracking time in the first place. By just letting Daily do its thing, an accurate overview of how you've spent your time can be generated. More about this concept can be read at https://dailytimetracking.com/blog/time-tracking-without-using-timers. If you have any questions about this, please reach out to [email protected].
