Could you use your app icon at the top of the screen so I can find it when I need it?

UPD: the team came up with realy working advice! Used it for years being enourmosly happy to copy and paste any text from images any second. On 27.0.1 (26A434) first started lagging and now it just «recognizing text» endlessly even not being stuck. Please, fix! I need you!

For the past couple of months, I’ve been constantly getting errors like this: Optional(TextRecognition.CRImageReaderError.e5rtError("e5rt_execution_stream_operation_create_precompiled_compute_operation_with_options call failed", 13)).. UPD: Thanks for the new macOS 27 update. Hopefully, the issue is fixed now. If it happens again, I’ll let you know.

This app is a must-have in your menu bar that I use daily. It’s perfect for capturing text from graphics or flyers without retyping. For instance, if you need to copy an email address from a graphic, even if it’s not clickable, I just highlight it with TextSniper and paste it into my email. It’s versatile and helps me avoid remembering too many details—just click to copy, highlight what I need, and paste. A truly invaluable tool for many tasks, making my workflow smoother and more efficient.

It’s freaking AWESOME

Was working reliable for years, stopped working on MacOS Golden Gate. Apparently there is a fix, but the developer doesn't publish it or update the app. Annoying.

I've been using this OCR tool all along, and it's really great—the recognition is very accurate.

Needs some configuration since macOS 27.0.1 I used TextSniper every day for years, and it was fast and reliable. Since the update to macOS 27.0.1, every capture often takes one minute, so the app is now nearly unusable. I read that the developer suggests turning off automatic language detection as a workaround. That is not possible for me because I use English and Italian every day. Please fix it. P.s. Following the programmer’s instructions, it now works again instantly and correctly in both Italian and English.

Great App! You never know when you’ll need this app, but you’re always glad you have it installed.

Here’s how I imagine this app working: it lives in my menu bar, and when I’ve got an image with some text in it, I click the menu bar icon, which gives me a tool to select the area of the image containing the text. And then I can send the text to my clipboard or whatever. Here’s what actually happens: it’s not in my menu bar. I search for it with Alfred and then it appears in my menu bar. I select it, and then nothing happens. I search for it again and now it’s gone from my menu bar. In Finder, I go locate the app and double click to get it to activate, and nothing happens. I open Setapp to check for updates, and it’s already on the latest version……. five minutes have passed and no text has been selected.

This app feels like magic every time I use it, and it’s getting just about as common as cmd+c for me at this point.

No problem grabbing text from PDFs, however, the OCR function is only correct about 80%-90% of the time on decent quality documents. On mediocre documents, the correctness drops to 50%-70%.

Amazing, take any text, even uncopyable, and copy it. What else do we need?
