My 2025 Macbook (M3 Max with 16 cores [12 performance and 4 efficiency]) hates this app. I tried the Qwen 3 4B 2507 model (the smallest). The screen flickers, the windows ghost. The computer stops responding… and the LLM doesn’t come up with text for a while… Right now this is unusable for me. I look forward to trying other versions. For now I am going to uninstall it.

I’m giving this app a hesitant thumbs up, because I’d like to see it grow. THE GOOD NEWS: This app makes local AI-assisted writing accessible when compared to approaches involving laborous technical installations. Sometimes these even require coding knowledge. I saw one review complaining that “it can only be used locally.” My brother in christ, that’s the point. THE BAD NEWS: It's one of the clunkiest writing app I’ve come across in awhile. It’s missing intuitive keyboard shortcuts, window sizing is clunky/huge, its name isn’t memorable (so good luck finding it later), and it’s brutally non-native (doesn’t behave at all like a typical mac app). And while it does have markdown support, it doesn’t support code blocks, indentation, or Apple’s writing assistant. It also doesn’t have personalization features like other AI tools. It’s viable, but not usable. Certainly not delightful. For now, I’m sticking with Apple’s writing assistant in native apps for the majority of related tasks.

The functionality is too limited, and the models can only be used locally, resulting in poor performance.
