MarginNote 3 has been abandoned by the developer, and MarginNote 4 will not be available on Setapp.

App is outstanding - but some features are substantially flawed. The embedded browser is almost useless. Completely outdated - twitter.com doesn’t even work, youtube.com barely works. There is so much potential here - even though it feels a bit overwhelming at the beginning.

Current version is outdated, please update

No updates for a long time

I have very much enjoyed the program for its ability to annotate PDFs and organize these into mindmaps and notecards. The ability to easily search my notes and PDFs for specific text is also a bonus. At the same time (and I do like it for the above still), I have given it a negative rating due to the lack of Margin Note 4 access (especially since it works across platforms) nor can the Setapp MarginNote 3 database be transferred to MarginNote 4 if purchased separately because the SetApp version of MarginNote 3 is not up to date.

Really great app, super practical and still not through all the functions of it.

With few integrations, a bare-bones interface, and few advanced features MarginNote is outclassed by several alternatives. It would make a great additional visualization tool to a more comprehensive reading and highlighting app, but lack the functionality I would like to see.

Seems powerful in very specific use cases. Inflexibility of UI and configuration make it a non-starter for me.

Despite being a very complicated app, I gave it a try. I didn’t intend to use de mindmaps, just to work with pdf and epub files, basic functions like highlighting or writing comments. But it didn’t stick with me. For epub files I switched to Bookfusion, which is absolutely wonderful. For pdf I recently came across UPDF, an outstanding software with a bunch of features that allow me to edit pdf with ease and smoothness, and at the same time it’s way more affordable than its competitors. So I don’t need MarginNote anymore. As tools, apps must be intuitive and easy to use.

Also keen to see more timely updates. At the very least we need the latest version of v3 so that we can do the migration to v4.

incredible tool. i had a situation arise wherein i needed an application like this. i could not find anything out there. i stumbled upon this accidently through Setapp. answered prayers.

Please add iPadOS to the Setapp package.

The App is ok, but it’s more than a year that MariginNote 4 is out…. when do you plan (if you plan it) to upgrade it to the latest release?

Can't find the V4 version on Setapp !

Would like to see updates come on time, however. This version of 3 does not have the latest updates, and MarginNote 4 became available a few weeks ago with significant improvements. Would love to see that updated here.

A great way of excerpting and organizing content into a visual hierarchy. i just wish the UI were less quirky
