I love Marked. I have used & licened Marked before Setapp existed. NOTE: THE FOLLOWING PROBLEM HAS BEEN FIXED. LEAVING COMMENT SO REPLY MAKES SENSE. Many, many thanks for the quick fix. Unfortunately, the Marked 3 update breaks my pandoc-centric workflow due to sandboxing. The terminal instructions to fix it thrugh the terminal do not work and the Help>Crossover material does not exist.

So happy v3 is finally out! Took longer than I hoped but worth the wait ❤️

Not a great solution for markdown files that contain code, it often messes up the formating of code blocks and extends them past where they end. Also, the export as PDF functionality just results in a blank PDF.

very usefeul as md is a common file and not alotta application can read it correctly

If you use markdown, then it’s an excellent app, even more so with what is planned for versoin 3

Brett Turpstra, the developer of Markedt, is a very clever guy. This piece of software is wonderful,i t makes life easier.

But there is a bug that is frustrating me. A simple one to fix I hope. The App keeps pretty well every file you have opened, open. You cannot close a file. Use the menu options, it persists. Use the red dot close, it persists. Use File>Close All, they all persist. My only choice is to quit the app, not an ideal way to use what otherwise would be my favourite tool. Nut if I reopen the app, it re-opens all those open files. Version 2.6.46 (1071)

Very straightforward markdown reader with some nice output features too.

Long time Marked user and V3 is a great upgrade. Like anything Brett Terpstra makes, if you dig into it, there is a TON of stuff it can do. Some highlights: - The Dingus (process tester) is brilliant - The Style Generator makes it so easy to create OR tweak to get your perfect looking document - The Style Stealer makes it easy to get most of the way there The DOCX export (& import) is great because other people still use Microsoft. The export to PDF is also much improved. Finally, the CLI is excellent. Particularly love the ability to stream content into a preview and/or create a new markdown file from the clipboard. Experiment (& RTFM!) and you'll be rewarded. For example: mk --paste creates a perfect markdown document mk --stream creates a perfect text document, but no images from the same markdown input mk --preview "CTRL+V" creates about half the document, then throws a bunch of bash errors when it hits an HTML comment (left by Bullseye/heckyesmarkdown). Fun!

Great simple app to view and export rendered markdown files. Easy to use and robust.

Excellent markdown preview. Editting the CSS can result in high quality and great looking pdfs that are even suitable for publication, without the need for latex (especially small abstracts)!

A really great app for anyone managing content in Markdown. It has some limitations for example with paginated printing. But the developer is very responsive and working on improving it.

Overall good job, printed paginated PDF's is broken - the content is shifted to the left by 1/3rd to 1/2 of page width. But continuous PDF looks fine.

Update: NEWEST VERSION HUNG MY MACHINE AND BROKE PRINTING. Completely messed up the print formatting, and printing is the only reason I use Marked. It cut off the left hand side of the document, about the first 2 letters in a large font, so probably something like 64 points. Ridiculous!! Old: Pretty good but more issues than a tool like this should have. The biggest is that when launched from another app (Drafts for me), Marked will often hide the Print Window behind the preview. This can result in hanging the app or in extreme circumstances hanging the machine. This is not acceptable in an app whose primary function for me, and doubtless others, is this workflow. Dec 2024 it hung each time I tried to open. Reinstalled. Restarted SetApp. Had to RESTART the machine. Not ideal. Also configuration process for styles and other non-trivial changes is too complex. I know it's powerful, but it must be simpler for new users. Some things took a LOT of work and investigation.
