Why do you need to capture my screen every 5 minutes? I get its needed for display, but why so freqently. Also feels like this app has become way more buggier, hard to justify its benifit vs the annoyance it became.

Bartender 5 was good. 6 is messing things up. Removing dato and other apps on the native solution

Unfortunately, the menu icon sometimes is doubled (one icon pointing left and one pointing right). Clicking on one does nothing, clicking on the other opens menu with ALL icons, including the ones already visible on the menu. After a couple seconds the ones that are already in the menu disappear and only the other icons are visible. Also, from time to time, mouse is jumping to the top left corner, I guess to reindex the list, but it's quite frustrating.

It’s higly dysfunctional on my m5 macbook pro. Icons wont appear, tried everything it just wont work as it should

The update is just buggy especially on external displays. I am wondering if the ap[p was tested properly before launch — Updated review, works perfectly fine. Impressive

I’ve given up, bartender is slowing my mac down so much since a while, using 6gb of RAM sometimes… shame really, gonna uninstall

Used to be great, but since Tahoe it's been virtually unusable. Glitchy and inconsitent while also randomly interfering with my mouse and keyboard. Do better.

Hasn't worked since Tahoe came out. Kept trying to use it til the end of Dec 25, but had to give up in the end. Good app before then, shame really.

6.3.0 lags severly

**Update 20251222 Version 6.3.0 just released is virtually unusable. Using settings, one item is locked in always hidden, even though it is not in an item group. Item groups are slow to expand and only appear in the menu bar. During settings, the cursor often goes crazy and is unusable. until Bartender settles down. Not recommended until it is updated. —— When will the Setapp version of Bartender be updated to v6? I have downloaded v6 from the website, but it competes with the installed Setap v5.x *Issue Resolved* I have the same issue as reported by others. Bartender requests screen permissions then just quits. It has worked well until today.

Since the update to version 6 on macOS Tahoe, Bartender does not work reliably anymore. It freezes my MacBook randomly, the screen recording icon is enabled all the time and the menubar is still hidden behind the notch. I have to look for an alternative…

This used to be such a good, reliable app, but the latest versions have been the cause of much grief for me, because whatever "magic" (or hacks) Bartender is doing to achieve its functionality is CONSTANTLY interfering with my mouse pointer. Oftentimes the mouse pointer will disappear, will stop functioning altogether (including the scroll wheel and buttons), or when I try and click on something, the pointer jumps to an entirely different part of the screen. I only recently noticed that every time these things occur, Bartender appears to be refreshing or updating itself in the menubar. Quitting Bartender seems to solve the issues.

Trying again after losing faith in v5… Bartender used to be great. At some point shortly after the app was taken over by a new developer, it started acting really buggy – This may have been related to the arrival of new a Mac OS, but still, developers can get ahead of new OS issues and the ones who took over Bartender didn’t seem to be on top of things. Emails to their support mostly went unanswered, espcially after I did everything that was advised to do – it’s almost like they were stumped and too embaressed to admit it. I’m now back trying v6.3.0 and we’ll see how it goes…

Used Bartender for years but the update after MacOS26 has made it unusable.

6.3.0 Often causes computers to become inexplicably slow

It is not able to place the battery icon correctly. All other app icons in the menu bar appear fine.

I started using Bartender about a year or two ago and I loved it. It really helped me solve the menu bar clutter and space issues. Ever since version 6, it has just been buggy and started causing a lot of problems. I don’t want to uninstall but I’m not sure I see another option
