Does what I need which is electronicly mimic a check register. No offence to any developer, but I would never allow an app to access my bank account.

Leider nutzlos für Bewohner der EU/Deutschland. Es werden nur kanadische und Amerikanische Banken unterstützt. Schade.

It’s quite more simplistic app than YNAB that I’ve been using for the last couple of years, but I’d say it’s pretty good for tracking your finances easily and seeing some basic analytics of your spendings. Some very basic budgets for keeping your expenses within some limit are also there. Importing bank transactions via Plaid supported, too (even though it does not recognize transfers between my accounts properly). Overall, even though it’s not a YNAB replacement for me, it’s pretty fast and easy to use.

This is one of those apps that feels too simple. I don’t understand how to import everything the way I want to import it. So it just does it on its own. Also it makse you relogin to your bank on ever single import that you do. I don’t find this a very useful flow for something your have to do often because it doesn’t seem ot auto sync, it has to be manually sync’d every time. Forgot a week, too bad you don’t get that info on sync because you can’t select dates nor does it do the assumed thing of looking at the last date in the app and importing data from there forward. Unless you like incredibly manual software that is barely better than excel than I think this is for you.

Chase connection does not work

Same as another user - bank connect via Plaid doesn’t work with the error message that it’s an unsupported browser. This is a pretty essential feature so it’s impossible to evaluate the app any further without it. Would sure love to try this again if it gets fixed, but it’s 3 months after the last user reported this issue and it’s still unresolved so doesn’t seem like there is much development happening here.

Linking accounts vi Plaid requires you to enter your banking information in the app itself, rather than opening in a separate browser for security. You’re supposed to grant permission to the app, not give the app (the ability to see) your username and password.

Trying to import a CSV causes the app to crash

Oh my god… Crashes a lot when importing the simplest CSV files. I’m entering everything one by one. So unreliable.

Chase.com users, please note that Greenbooks does not support Directconnect with Chase Bank. It looks like the app is sending a User Agent string that is causing Plaid/Chase to think that the browser is incompatible, so you cant proceed with the authentication. I contacted GreenBooks support about this, and they told me that there's nothing they can do about this (although they did not say explicitly that they tried spoofing the User Agent string in their app to see if that would solve the solution). Very disappointing.

Looks like a nice app, but I’m unable to really try it out because when I tried to add an account using the Direct Connect option, it opens a window with Plaid to connect to my bank, but then my bank’s website says it doesn’t meet the system requirements. I think the issue is the actual web browser window in GreenBooks, is it based on Webkit? However it is, it isn’t recognized as a compatible “browser” so I’m unable to connect my account (or even quit the app without force quitting). Hopefully the developer sees this and may respond. Also, hopefully it’s just a fairly simple update of their web browser for Plaid to use to connect to your bank. I’d love to continue trying it after that, if I can get it to work.

Simple and elegant app, which is precisely what I was looking for. However, if you're looking for more advanced functionality and integrations, look at MoneyWiz.
