Finally, the noise from my fan is gone, and I can attend meetings without getting hot, hahaha.

The app is working awesome but draining battery soooo much. Do you have any options to fix that? 2h of call on google meets normally takes 25% of my mac baterry, but with joycast runnig it takes 60% of my battery, thats a lot!

Hey, Adrian 👋. Oh, that's really a lot. And strangely, my tests have never shown such an increase in battery consumption. Tell me, what device do you have? I'm planning to release a small update at the beginning of the year. I'll definitely see what quick fixes I can add in this release. Thank you again for your attention and high rating, even though JoyCast didn't fully live up to your expectations 🙏.

This is an ideal app. I have an SMB7 mic setup for real recording stuff, but I’ve hated having an entire audio setup cluttering my workspace for the day-to-day zoom-meetings (which is a major part of my work). This app makes the iMac microphone functional, especially in my reverby room. I’ve been getting LOTS of compliments from my colleagues about the sound. One caveat: the AI doesn’t seem to like additional white noise; I have a noisy fan in my office that I sometimes run and my colleagues tell me that sound is not as good when I am running my fan. I think that kind of limitation is to be expected.

Thank you for your high rating and kind words 🥹. Unfortunately, I think some minor artifacts are possible due to the persistent background noise. I hope we'll resolve these issues early next year 🙏.

EDIT: Uladzimir is incredibly responsive, he baked a proper uninstaller in no time. Nice app, but it isn’t significantly better than the built‑in voice isolation. The audio sometimes flattens my voice and makes it sound higher‑pitched, muffled, or even nasal. I wish the audio quality could be closer to professional standards.

With the latest version, I am experiencing an issue in my daily use: when I set the Joycast virtual microphone as the input for Google Meet, my voice does not pass through, and nobody in the meeting can hear me. This is a daily problem. Note: I am using the wireless OnePlus Pro 2 buds with a MacBook Pro. This should work properly right?

Antwort vom Entwickler

13. Jan. 2026

Hey, Chirag 👋. Hmm, that's really odd. Unfortunately, the macOS audio system is always a bit magical. So, diagnosing the problem remotely is extremely difficult. It would be very helpful if you could answer me a few questions. 1. Can you hear yourself using the "Preview My Voice" feature in the JoyCast window? 2. Could some software on your Mac have reset the JoyCast Mic or JoyCast Output volume to 0? 3. Is this a constant issue, or do you only encounter it occasionally? As far as I know, you won't be able to answer here, but I'm always available at [email protected].

Joycast appears to conflict with Microsoft Teams, resulting in no audio after ten minutes of a call.

Antwort vom Entwickler

Hey, Grant 👋. Sorry for the inconvenience JoyCast has caused you 🙏. I'll try to investigate this myself. However, I'd appreciate any additional information: is everything working on calls on other platforms? What microphone are you using? Are you using other audio software? As far as I know, you won't be able to answer me here. But if you could find the time to write to me at [email protected], I'd be grateful.

Works great. Only downside I have is that I frequently switch from my wired EarPods to wireless AirPods. In that case, I need to manually change the input device in JoyCast, because there is no “system default” input device option. You specifically have to select an input device. It would be nice if it can switch automatically.

Hey, Sava 👋. Thank you for taking the time to review JoyCast 🙏. By the way, you can configure JoyCast to use your system microphone. However, this option is only available if the JoyCast microphone isn't selected in the system settings. If you need any further assistance, I'm always available at [email protected].

JoyCast really surprised me, and works extremely well. I’m also experiencing a heavy hit to system resources / battery life on my MacBook running JoyCast, so I kill the app when I don’t need it. It would be great to be able to run it all of the time in the background if that can be optimized. I would also love the option to disable the video/mirror feature from the menubar. It feels a bit like feature-creep, that in my personal case, I would love to turn off if possible in the future. Great job, keep up the good work.

Joycast is a great app and I really enjoy using it for my broadcasts. It’s clean, stable, and easy to set up, which makes the streaming experience smooth and enjoyable. However, I would love to see the developers add a few features that would make the app even better especially for audio-focused streamers like me. It would be amazing to have the ability to use multiple audio inputs at the same time, or even a dedicated “Audio-only” section for those of us who stream voice and music without video. Right now, I have two microphones connected through different audio apps, but Joycast only allows one input at a time. Having more input flexibility would make the app much more powerful and versatile. Overall, I really like the app, and I hope future updates bring these improvements. Joycast has a lot of potential, and I’m excited to see how it grows!

Thanks for the kind words and detailed feedback! Multiple audio inputs is definitely on our radar — we know this would unlock a lot for audio-focused streamers. No ETA yet, but it's something we're actively thinking about. Appreciate you taking the time to share this. Stay tuned!

It works! I have an echo in my room and this app totally reduces it. I am very glad to see such results. Thank you so much. However, the privacy policy is not clear to me. I hope nothing from my microphone leaks to the network

Antwort vom Entwickler

27. Nov. 2025

Thank you for your attention and high rating 🙏! I'm already working on updating the privacy policy. But in a nutshell, it's very simple: the app runs locally, no data is sent online, and there's not even an analytics system 😌.

I suspect the ratings are somewhat manipulated. JoyCast severely disrupted my ability to use recording features in Cursor, VSCode, Aqua, and many other applications. After uninstalling it and restarting, none of these apps could record. If you find yourself in a similar situation, here is a script to clean up after this issue. Personally, I am not angry with JoyCast, but SetApp should conduct at least a minimal amount of testing before releasing an app. A clean uninstall should be the bare minimum.

Antwort vom Entwickler

25. Nov. 2025

I'm sorry you had a negative experience with JoyCast. Your comment about the app lacking a quick driver uninstall option is 100% accurate. An update is already in the works. However, I can assure you that installing and uninstalling JoyCast will not affect the operation of other microphones or applications. The only issue I'm aware of is that on some versions of macOS, CoreAudio can occasionally freeze during reboots. My own experiments show that the issue occurs in about 1 in 20 reboots. Unfortunately, all virtual audio device providers on macOS are experiencing this issue. All hope lies with Cupertino.
