Great idea and algorithm works pretty well - but doesn’t resume after screen locks, so it makes it pretty useless. Even when I reopen the app, it says “Posture detection paused while screen is locked” and I have to manually click “Enable Posture Detection”.

hi! I hope you see this and try the new version of the app, 1.9.2. It fixes the issue where posture detection does not resume after screen lock. remember you can always email me at [email protected] and I will make sure we get it sorted! :D

I'd love to give the app more of a neutral rating, but with the binary choice, overall this has been more negative than positive. The premise sounds good, and some of the time, it is effective. Unfortunately the app has a tendancy to slow down over time meaning that the alerts come up, but then take longer and longer to clear from the screen - and this is on an M4 Max MacBook Pro. To work for me I have to make the app use the MacBook's camera as it doesn't play nicely with my primary Insta360 camera which has PTZ. This puts the camera angle as offset to one side by 45 degrees - and this mostly seems to work with the app - however, there are plenty of times when I can see and feel I have a good posture, but the app disagrees, and simply the act of sucking my stomach in changes the scoring - challenging given I'm rather chunky there! whilst set to load on startup, it rarely does. So I'm uninstalling this now.

Thanks for the detailed review. The “sucking stomach in” trick made me smile 😄 You are right that with different camera setups like PTZ posture detection still needs improvement. For now i would recommend adding like 20 good and bad posture examples so it's stronger signal for the model. The speed slowdown is really worrying to me because i made sure it can run even on older m processors :O any chance i could get any more info from you about that? [email protected] If you ever decide to give the app another try in the future, I would love to hear how it feels after the next updates.

If you’d like, feel free to email me at [email protected] and we can jump on a quick Zoom call to set things up together. You can also try granting camera access again manually: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera → allow Slouch Sniper

Very useful, although maybe a bit oversensitive. It would be good if we could set a timer to control how long we could be in a hunched over position before the alarms sound. Also, there are bugs: the configuration I set up in the onboarding didn't get applied, and I had to set it all over again.

Thanks for the feedback, Brandon it's much appreciated. You can already control how long you’re allowed to slouch before the alarm triggers. Just scroll down in the app and you’ll find the “How long until posture alarm?” slider. Onboarding settings not getting saved is def a bug. Thanks for pointing it out. I’m looking into fixing this.

So far so good. I think it's more useful if you can position your camera to the side; e.g., you have a main external monitor or a separate macbook

First impressions are good. This app has the potential to improve my life as much as the rest of setapp combined. I can already feel my posture improving away from the computer. I’ve suffered with shoulder pain for a long time, this really feels like it’s going to make a big difference

This is the solution I have been waiting for my entire life! The app still needs some polishing and fine tuning, but overall it is a total game changer. My neck pain disappeared after two days, and now I finally know how bad my posture is. I can already see improvements in my tendencies after just a few days. Biggest fan of this app. Keep it up, devs!

I totally recommend this app – it helps me maintain good posture (keeps my back straight and shoulders open) throughout a regular programmer's workday. Help me stay oxydized thus more productive, because of better posture throghout a day.

Seems great but after onboarding, closing the app window stops tracking. macOS Tahoe 26.2. The app has full autorisations but does not seems yet to work in the background as supposed.

Thanks for the feedback! The app should keep tracking even after you close the window - sounds like something’s off here. Could you drop me a quick message at [email protected] with a few details about how to recreate that? I’ll take a closer look and help you sort it out.

Whoa! I started using this and quickly realized how bad my posture gets while working. Super helpful to get reminders. I used it during Zoom meetings with clients and the notifications were helpful and didn’t get in the way. Super impressed!

Slouch Sniper is a great - and rightfully annoying -app! It does exactly what it promises: it catches you slouching and nags you into sitting up straight. After a few days, you start correcting your posture automatically, which is kind of the point. If you work at a desk and tend to collapse into shrimp mode, this is easily one of the best tools to start with. Simple, effective, and just irritating enough to actually work. Extra thing you didn’t ask for (but need): Keep it “annoying” on purpose. If you tone down the reminders too much, your brain will ignore it and you’ll be back to spinal origami in a week.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm really glad you like the app overall! Battery usage shouldn’t be high, so this sounds unexpected. I’ll take a closer look and work on improving this. If you’re open to sharing more details, feel free to email me at [email protected]. I’d love to make sure everything works for you. And if we manage to fix this for you, I’d really appreciate if you’d consider updating your review

This app came in such an important moment for me One feedback: If you can allow us to set our own time interval, I feel 1s is too short, but 15s of wrong posture can be too painful already!

This app is seriously awesome! Calibration was super easy, and I was able to start right away. I often work with my earphones on, and it's great how the sound lets me know when my posture is getting bad.
