Overall, I like this app as a Homebrew GUI more than others I've used but it does have some flaws. There's no indication or notification that Homebrew itself has an update and when you update, the popup just blips through it and disappears. The history section doesn't include anything about the core either, only casks and formulae. If you're on a tab that has to scan and you change tabs. the scan is lost and you have to start over each time. The security scan doesn't seem to work as it never flags anything where other Homebrew vulnerability scanners find plenty. The health and diagnostics tabs seem like they should be merged. The right sidebar always resizes itself way too narrow. Search results list should indicate when something is already installed. Result details feel minimal compared to other apps. Formulae in taps have almost no info and don't expand to show full descriptions even.

Pretty great, would love to see more security and cleanup features / quarantine is macOS gatekeeper but wouuld be cool to have some sort of extra stop-gap to make sure all packages are what they say they are, haven’t been modified, etc. Overall I have found the current built in tools really useful and now it’s in our toolbelt!

Makes updates easy because everything is in one place

It’s not stable and caskhub is way better. I search for UTM and couldn’t find it in Taphouse but could in Caskhub.

great brew gui

Taphouse is a fantastic application, I’ve attempted so many GUI applications for homebrew and all of them were absolutely terrible (even the paid ones). This one checks all of the boxes; it works, it doesn’t create pain, it makes it easy to audit what it installed and even integrated the CVE handling. Overal, extremely pleased with this! A few feature requests: 1. Scheduling - Automatic updates on a schedule, enable all by default with exceptions vs. only having an allowed list. - Automatically export Brewfile on a consistent basis to a specified location on a schedule. - Automatically run a deep clean or standard clean on a schedule. 2. Search - Better interfaces for searching/discovering apps 3. MCP server for exposing the apps functions for agents to manage/use taphouse.

I absolutely love this application. It has more features than I expected, and it operates perfectly. I've had zero issues with it so far. The developers truly did an outstanding job with this one!

Great UI for one of the most commonly used command line utilities, Brew.

Very much enjoying this. Great app for staying up-to-date. (To anyone reading this: pay attention about the ‘adopt’ route before blinding doing it. This is not an issue, but how brew-related stuff works.)

Really like the visibility on things that otherwise can stay hidden and pose a risk if they contain security risks.

Better than the “official” homebrew GUI and worth taking a look at for all the added features

I'm not shy about using the Terminal. My terminal always open and I do a ton of stuff in it—I'm a former Unix sysadmin and systems engineer, so I'm right at home there. But sometimes, when a GUI app really actually does save time and tedious typing over using the shell, well… why not! After checking it out—and especially after seeing that it shows me all the stuff it's doing during an uninstall, for example, I like it and I know I can trust it. This aging Gen X Unix guy (complete with white beard) approves of and supports Taphouse!

As a non-developer relatively recent-comer to MacOS and the Apple ecosystem, using Homebrew was a bit daunting. On Windows I use UniGetUI as a package manager to keep my various package managers in sync and my programs updated. Taphouse does something very similar for MacOS and eliminates the need to open the terminal to update and upgrade my brew packages. I especially appreciate the ability to adopt apps already installed on the Mac to update via Taphouse. This has quickly become one of the apps I rely on to take care of my two Macs.

Really a great tool for updating more than just Homebrew. It audits your system for applications that Homebrew can adopt. It runs security scans, updates Mac apps, and more.

Who KNEW that homebrew had this much power?! One of the FEW apps I have ever rated on the app store but it’s hands down one the best utilities I have ever had for managing my Mac.

A brilliant idea – I’d definitely recommend it!
