really enjoying this app.

This is a great journaling app. I’m not sure why it hasn’t gotten as much attention as DayOne, but I think it’s just as good and it’s part of SetApp!

Very well-designed app that makes keeping a journal that much easier.

This is my favourite app for keeping a journal. Or more if you like. Templates, Calendar, Timeline, Multiple Entries per day or just one with or without timestamps, mood barometer, themes to set up your personalised writing space — everything is there. But the best thing is the support. One email is all it takes to get competent help within a short time.

Been using it to keep track of my day to day activities from work, including things I’ve done, pending, and details of tasks I had to pause to help me get back to them later. It’s great. One things that would be awesome is to be able to use AI to summarize the past X days. This could be helpful to prepare for meetings, or just to have an idea of what was left behind and overall progress. I understand that there is a matter of privacy in this regard, as AI would have to basically receive the contents of your entries, but it could be solved with a tag to mark sensitive info. E.g., Discussed %Private subjects% with John yesterday.

Great alternative to DayOne. What I love most about his app is the beautiful UI and themes!

Does the job. Looks good. Works on all devices.

I’ve tried a number of the other (obvious) journally apps, and not quite gorton with them. (too much effort or not tailorable) I now use Diarly regularly and slowly am creating a template to do just what I want. the fact it exposes a URL to enable searches means I can find what I want

Excellent journaling app with amazing developer support I’ve been using Diarly for a while now, and it’s easily one of the best journaling apps out there. The interface is clean, fast, and distraction-free, making it a pleasure to write in every day. What really stood out to me was the developer’s responsiveness. I made a request for a theme I really wanted, and they added it surprisingly quickly. That level of attention and care for user feedback is rare, and it makes me feel confident supporting this app long term. If you want a well-designed, privacy-focused journaling app backed by a developer who actually listens to their users, Diarly is a fantastic choice

Have replaced Day One with Diarly, works great on MacOS and IOS. Looks to me the development is more active with Diarly with new features every month or two. Migration from Day One was a cinch with several thousand entries and photos trransferred without errors.

OK, I have never tried Day One, or anything else, but I won’t try them, because this is just perfect. Hats off to the developers.

It’s great for journaling and keeping your thoughts in a space. I still like a pen and paper better, but if I have to do it online, I choose this one.

Diarly lacks automatic entry creation from photo metadata. Unlike Day One, you can't bulk-import photos and have dated entries created automatically. You must create entries first, then add photos manually—frustrating for travel documentation. Good for traditional journaling, but not photo-driven workflows.
