I like the new interface alright, it will take some adjusting to but it’s sharper looking. I’m a little upset now that I can’t see the actual amount of space I have left anymore on the bottom of the window.. below the path navigator that would say what my memory availabe was. Now it just says my total memory in general, like 950 GB which with some larger apps open it should be around 350-400 GB. My ssd now says I have 0 bytes out of 2 TB left when it should be 900 GB left so that’s a bit saddening. Hoping this will be seen and it is fixable!

Glitchy, for some unknown reason Path Finder does not open some files (e.g. Word documents, Excel files, PDF files). I have uninstalled the app and reverted back to the native macOS finder.

I’ve been using this app for years and it has nearly always be a trusted companion. Only once, years ago, PathFinder was broken with a new version of OS X and it took time for Cocoatech to fix it. But that has never been the case anymore, and today I consider this to be one of the key tools in my toolbox, along with 1Password and Setapp.

I used to love Pathfinder but since a couple of days now it does not show changes in a folder. I’ve to close that tab and reopen it to see a new file!

Path Finder is an essential tool for all my Macs. It’s so much better than Finder

It is an excellent program. It helps me find files that normally I would not know about. It took me awhile to understand the “interface,” but over all it works! Go for it.

Path Finder is still so much more useful than Finder. It does have certain triggers that make it crash. A peculiar one I found recently is when trying to open a very large txt file (10000+ lines) using textedit - both PF and textedit remain unresponsive and you’d have to force quit it. Finder has no such issues.

Setapp is the best way to use Path Finder, which is still the best Finder alternative. Over the years, Path Finder has managed to decline in value by including trivial new functions. The Path Finder app has improved its stability but it’s very important to regularly back up your personal settings in the Sidebar section so your work at configuring Path Finder is not lost after an expected crash. The best thing about Path Finder is that you can create and save whole configured sets of tabs for specific types of work or files. Four stars.

I have to reboot at least once a day because it stops refreshing. Something I know just downloaded doesn’t show up in my downloads folder in PF, but does in Finder. Reload doesn’t help. Nothing short of quitting PF and starting it up again fixes the issue. I’m deleting this app. It just keeps getting worse and more bloated. It takes more work to use this app than it does to just use 2 Finder windows open side-by-side.

Set as default file browser is not working. When I search folder from Alfred and hit enter, it used to open in Path Finder. After macOS 26.4 updates, this does not work anymore. It now opens folder in Finder. Please fix this issue.

Quality of the app keeps not improving or even declining: In version 2185 - when navigating into a folder, first the included files show up, then they vanish and you just see an empty folder. - Path Finder regularly keeps „forgetting“ which folder was last opened in a tab and on reopening just shows the contents of „/Volumes“ - the old version of Path Finder was completely localized in German. But years after an apparent rewrite, the „new“ version’s localization is still incomplete - I have recently received a response to a bug report I sent over a year ago! Version 11 Tags in the Tag pane can not be edited, Clipboard content can not be pasted in. The quality decline really is a shame since I have been an avid PF user for years. But with all the issues and their Tech support not responding to critical support requests, I am seriously looking for alternatives.

Since 2002, I’ve had several different Macs — eMac, PowerMac G4, PowerMac G3, PowerBook G4, Mac mini M2 and a MacBook Air M4… Just like File Explorer is virually useless for my Windows PCs, Finder is just not enough of most everything. Path Finder is THE file manager I would choose for every Mac I might own. But, I do wish Path Finder was a bit more like Directory Opus…

After upgrading to Tahoe, I find that my Dropbox link in Pathfinder is outdated and not getting updates correctly. Also not seeing other cloud storage in its interface like Proton Drive or iCloud Drive.

I have loved Path Finder for years and was glad to see it in the Setapp list so I could use it again affordably.

I’ve used Path Finder for many years (well before it was on Set App) and overall love it. However, I’m having nothing but trouble with it since updating to Tahoe, so I’m going to have to uninstall for now. An app that’s so core to daily usage really should be ready to go on public release day one of a new macOS.
