Wenn Bartender läuft, dann muss verschwinden die Menus bei einem Klick darauf sofort wieder und ich muss die Menus ein zweites Mal anklicken.

Unfortunately the app has gone from bad to worse with each new release of Mac OS. It is unreliable on my MBP running Tahoe. I reinstall every few months hoping that developers will fix the issues but had no luck so far. In the meantime I discovered another app called Barbee that seems to work reasonably well with a fast response.

This breaks window management in MacOS 26 in ways that make it unusable. I can’t over any element and get the expected behavior with Bartender open. Can’t recommend until they address basic QA for fundamental parts of the MacOS experience.

So many bugs and downright interruptive behaviors (the cursor stealing is so frustrating) I’ve stopped using this app. I’ve tried giving the new devs the benefit of the doubt, but Tahoe’s been out forever, and Bartender only seems to continue to be getting worse. Sad fate for an app that used to be a day-one install on new Macs.

Slow and unresponsive. Bartender simply stopped working on my machines. It’s like development stopped. I gave up on Bartender and switched to Ice. It’s not as fully featured as Bartender, but at least it works.

Definitely a thumbs up, long term! But at the moment (macOS 26) there’s far too much erratic behavior in Bartender for that rating.

It keeps re-adding all the icons to almost hidden. Stopped using it now after almost a decade.

Used to be my fav. But ever since they changed owner, it becomes as buggy as you can imagine. Barely even useable in the new Mac OS systems. Constantly rearranging. Such a shame.

Since the update to version 6 on macOS Tahoe, Bartender does not work reliably anymore. It freezes my MacBook randomly, the screen recording icon is enabled all the time and the menubar is still hidden behind the notch. I have to look for an alternative… Update: Thank you for the developer feedback. I am now on version 6.4.2 and things have gotten a bit better. However, triggers (e.g. the built-in (!!) Time Machine trigger) do not work reliably. The purple screen recording icon is on ALL THE TIME. I do realize that screen recording permissions are needed, but the icon should not be on all the time. I am using Bartender to get rid of items in my menu bar, not to have more icons. And since the screen recording icon is purple, it is even more annoying that it never goes away…

Sadly I have to agree with the other reviews here. I’ve been using bartender for as long as I can remember but it’s been unusable for some time. I haven’t even upgraded to Tahoe yet. It’s a real shame.

The app basically doesn’t work under Tahoe. It changes the menu bar, but very buggy and laggy. Causes the computer to slow to a crawl frequently. But the worst of all is the menu items it manages don’t work. Can’t pull down menus from them. Every time you click on one it just bounces and shows up elsewhere. It makes your menu bar like a big game of whack-a-mole.

Has become very buggy - the interface doesn’t show all items in the settings, settings flickers constantly, drag n drop v unreliable - pls fix! Otherwise really like! Will edit when fixed!

Was great, now unusable. Buggy as hell, constantly indexing. Gonna have to delete.

The app used to be great. Now it simply no longer does what it’s supposed to do. It’s impossible to display items permanently. I’ve tried everything: update, reinstall. Now I’m switching to an alternative.
