Bartender Pro slows down the entire macOS UI and makes it unresponsive. Scrolling becomes choppy in every window across the system, and the only way to restore normal performance is to force-quit the app.

Still gave it a chance after the new Pro update, still disapointed, the integrations asre a nice idea with the notch and eveything, but the core features it’s just gone wild, it is literally broken can’t make it to function properly, and you can even forget it if there’s a new app using the menu bar.

I am really starting to lose my patience with this app. It used to work great, but it’s been a long while now that it’s unreliable. First, there was that problem where Bartender would control your mouse. Now, it simply never respects your layout. You make changes to it but they never stick. With that in mind, you’re better off not using it at all.

This app used to be great and I used it a lot but with recent Mac OS releases it feels clunky and slow. Editing the hidden menu doesn’t reflect changes in the top hotbar. It also doesn’t have compatibility with the notch on new Macs. I’ve used and relied on Bartender for years as it’s incredibly useful and it’s frustrating that it’s not keeping pace with new Mac developments.

didn’t realize you can just hold cmd and drag icons on the menu bar, man apple’s annoying… but, maybe that’s a new feature and why this app doesn’t work any more? I’m a recent apple convert, shockingly poor design compared to windows lol I wanted to give it a thumbs up in the hopes that it’s going to work eventually but going by the other reviews I’m not so sure. Setapp’s only supposed to have good apps, right? I think part of the monthly fee is the apps are supposed to be curated so there’s only good ones… I could be wrong about that though. I’m not sure if the developer can reply to reviews on here, but the lack of acknowledgment is worrying. I don’t know if the dev gave up, or the issues lie with tahoe, who knows? why does the icon in the menu bar change from filled to hollow when I click it, what is that even doing? but yeah just hold cmd and drag the icons no need for this app from what I can tell

It was the best thing for your mac, been using it since… god… more than 10 years… But since the Sequoia or Tahoe update it became a cpu hogg :( slows down my M1 considerably. Just gave it another try and even in the “manual mode” it still does it :( It was great while it lasted, I’m afraid apple is making it harder and harder for them to manage the menu… shame :(

seemed a little buggy and didn’t give me a dropdown for icons

The app is very much useless at this point. Leaves an ugly arrow in the middle of the screen, the indexing never finishes, etc. This used to work great but no more.

Buggy as hell these days. The app used to be very effective but this makes my mac slow and constant not working

It’s terrible to use, and it’s not even as stable as free software. The icons keep flickering, and some hidden icons don't even respond when clicked.

I’ve unninstalled Bartender as it no longer works. It never saves my layout and sets everything to always hidden even in dropdown. Anything you can get to show in the drop down does nothing when clicked or right clicked.

Seems to constantly get confused on its layout. Icons jump all over the place when selected.
