If you use markdown, then it’s an excellent app, even more so with what is planned for versoin 3

Marked has long been my favorite Markdown previewer for its level of polish, and I particularly like the easy-to-miss power-tools like the TOC "jump to" typeahead, link validation, and spelling/grammar checking. Definitely give it a shot in your Markdown workflow.

Works great. UI is a little clunky, but that’s fine, I’m not in it enough to really care.

First install , bug in app ? - text editor view wont let me type anything !

I’ve used marked for close to 10 years, even prior to setapp! This is a consistent markdown previewer that I use across multiple editors. Whether I’m working in an IDE, code editor, or my terminal I’m using Marked and I’m constantly surprised with how responsive and feature packed it is!

Very straightforward markdown reader with some nice output features too.

Nice and intuitive

I noticed an issue when exporting as a single-page PDF: the right margin seems to be cut off and extra space appears on the left side, which affects the final layout. It would be great if this could be adjusted.

Your app is probably not that bad if you use it the way you intend it. However, it is very misleading (read the other reviews). PEOPLE EXPECT YOU TO BE ABLE TO CREATE MARKDOWN DOCUMENTS. Yes you can be petty and say that this would NOT be the intention of the app... However, if many users complain about something then you should either be very clear about it or implement the missing feature.

Marked starts as a Markdown viewer. Then you start using the app and find that it’s so much more.

Pretty good but more issues than a tool like this should have. The biggest is that when launched from another app (Drafts for me), Marked will often hide the Print Window behind the preview. This creates an extremely confusing situation for the user—it seems as if they hit print over and over but nothing happens, and … something weird is going on because certain things don’t work (because Print is a modal dialog box). This is not acceptable in an app whose primary function for me, and doubtless others, is this workflow. (Drafts can’t do Live Preview AFAIK since it doesn’t edit files.) December 2024 the app hung each time I tried to open it. I tried reinstalling it. I tried restarting SetApp. I had to restart my machine to get it working. Not ideal. Also the configuration process for styles and other non-trivial changes is too complex. I know it is powerful, but you need to make it simpler somehow for the new user. Some things took quite a bit of work and investigation.

I guess this is advertised as preview only and works as such, but it makes no sense to limit this to preview only. It does have a source display, all is needed to enable editing of the source code (which is simple text) and it is full editor. I would like to fix typos and remove blocks I do not need and have to open yet another application to do so. Weird choice, because it looks like a good app. I’ll keep looking for editor with Markdown support, then dump this as extra tool.

Marked has become an essential tool in my writing routine. I use it on a daily basis to proofread text and check markdown syntax. Especially great is keyword highlighting. In Preferences/Proofing, I have collected a long list of words to avoid/use alternate/highlight. With that, I get a second view of my text, which I then can adapt in the editor (Marked is only a previewer, there’s no way to edit text). Another feature I use regularly is PDF and docx export. Thanks to the (configurable) style selector, I can switch between formatting easily. I you need a „second view“ to check and export Markdown files, I highly recommend Marked 2.

Nice and slick quick previewing of MD files and can open multiple at a time. Great tool for use with dev docs and MD-centric LLM development

The app is fast and renders amazingly well. Unfortunately, it lacks a built-in editing feature which I require. I originally left a negative review. The developer rightfully pointed out that this was never claimed by the app, hence the updated review. If all you’re looking for is previewing Markdown then there’s no better app. If you want ‘side-by-side’ editing, then you’re out of luck.

A tool you don’t use for months, and then is suddenly invaluable. It hasn’t changed much from a user standpoint in a decade(?), but I always install it on every Mac I own.
