meh. love the functionality but the app blocks restarts and won’t even close itself to allow Setapp to update it. Have to “Retry” restarts every time.

Great for super basic network monitoring and domain blocking! While it doesn’t have the full functionality of an app such as Little Snitch, if you don’t need features such as relying on specific network triggers, then this nifty utility can help get the job done. Hope to see more functionality added in the future!

Simple and effective

Great potential, but not suitable as an application firewall yet. Worst problem: Tiny Shield allows connections by default and there is no way to change that. “Block all by default” or “ask by default” modes don’t exist. This means you have to wait for an app to actually connect to some server before you know it wants to. It might already be too late then. Second worst problem: Connections required by Setapp cannot be blocked. With the same ignorance, Apple tried to implement a new network filter framework that couldn’t block their own services. This is a no-go for an application firewall. If I deliberately want to break things because I really, really have to block this app/connection right now, let me do that. I’m going back to Lulu until these major issues get fixed.

Handy little app. Runs lighter and cleaner than little snitch and has all the info I need

Just installed it, but I like it. I immediately saw Paste (also on SetApp) was contacting Mixpanel. Nah nah… blocked.

Fait qu’on lui demande de faire, c’est à dire : donner graphiquement les connexions sortantes de votre mac. Mais quid des connexions entrantes ? Et cette application quitte toute seule, de temps en temps, sans prévenir. Bref, très moyen.

App is great; does exactly what it says

Terrible UI. The network connections refesh so frequently, about once every second, that it is nearly impossible to block certain processes, they scoot out from under your cursor before you can click them, and you end up clicking something you do NOT want to block. No documentation on website, just email. Pass. No onboarding screens. 1 blog article. (!?) I have low tolerance for something that makes me struggle right out of the gate to use. Seems like alpha-release software. Uninstalled.

It has great potential for the future, but as it is right now, it’s causing annoying interruptions in my video chat conversation with Discord, every 20-30 seconds. I’ll revise my rating at a future date, assuming this is resolved.

I can only second what Sean McKenna is saying. It works nicely - once you’ve granted the appropriate extension access. It monitors all apps, including the ones installed through SetApp. I can block individual connections from a certain application - which is a very nice feature. The interface is clean and nice.

Love this app! Does exactly what it’s supposed to do and unlike Little Snitch (which I own and also love), this app is very unintrusive so I can get my work done with constantly being distracted by denying and approving connections. Not a resource hog either, so I’m quite pleased with this little gem!

Not great, tried to monitor browser traffic and it just constantly refreshed such that it made it absolutely impossible to view connections

The idea behind Tiny Shield is simple and brilliant. I’m a big fan and think it has massive potential, but I believe there are some features that would enhance its utility: 1. Open at login. This should be available in the settings. 2. Customisable key command to trigger the Menu app. 3. Menu app should display the app process list without needing to open Tiny Shield’s main interface. 4. Ability to customise what’s displayed in the Menu app. Overall, I think this is an excellent utility that communicates essential information to the user. I look forward to its evolution and continual development.
