Great app. Long history of meaningful updates, not just filler features. Beautiful to use.

8 Oct, 2025 - Thank you for your response. Unfortunately to try the beta I have to Install it outside of Setapp This could scramble things when all is said and done, and I'd rather not do it. Hopefully it will be resolved shortly. Every year at the same time of the year, companies know that Apple updates. their operating system and they know long in advance what it will be. Why it takes so long When all of the main elements are known is a bit beyond me, I very much appreciate companies who take this into account Perhaps you could begin now for next year's release, so it will come out on time. — Has not been updated to OS 26 on any system. That said this is a phenomenal program and I would give it five out of five stars overall.

beautiful note app

A great writing app! More features than I use on a regular basis. But I love the way it’s become a library for organising all my writing and ideas.

I really want to like this product. I use it a lot. Unfortunately, I use it to organize my ChatGPT and other AI conversations. Ulysses' ability to paste output of ChatGPT, no matter what you use in Ulysses, is atrocious. It messes up lists, it messes up headings and returns. I don't understand how bad it actually is. By comparison, Notion always pastes correctly. I've ended up sometimes having to paste into Notion, copy it and paste it back into Ulysses. And that is on the verge of making me stop using the product. If Ulysses Support wants to contact me, I would be happy to talk to them. —— Update: I downloaded the latest version, go to ChatGPT, hit the copy icon, paste, ruins all the formatting. How can a software company not use or test ChatGPT? Moving on. Pass on this software.

Getting to know it

worst update ever. break down a lot useful old feature. I miss the function, that window and full screen mode own different theme and font size.

Ulysses is such an elegant markdown editor and project manager. I’ve used it for my last 4 books, and I can’t imagine writing without it.

Nach so vielen Jahren kann Ulysses noch nicht einmal Text verarbeiten – Text, der von rechts nach links geschrieben wird, wie Hebräisch, Aramäisch oder andere linksläufige Sprachen. Die freundliche Anfrage liegt dem Entwickler seit etlichen Jahren vor, doch er reagiert nicht. Andere Entwickler haben gezeigt, dass das innerhalb kürzester Zeit umsetzbar ist. Peinlich für Ulysses, das ansonsten gute Ideen enthält. Leider unbrauchbar für Geisteswissenschaftler, Archäologen, Theologen und andere, die in mehr als den elf unterstützten Sprachen schreiben möchten.

C'est une application très prometteuse

I’ve written three novels using Ulysses and will never go back! Can’t live without its features, especially the gamification and progress wheels.

The app is unusable as it is always crashing.

I COULD NOT EVEN OPEN THE APP BECAUSE IT TRIED TO TELL ME THAT I DID NOT HAVE A SUBSCRIPTION TO MAC APPS, WHICH I DO HAVE A SUBSCRIPTION TO MAC APPS, I WOULDN’T BE USING SETAPP IF I DIDN’T HAVE A SUBSCRIPTION TO MAC APPS THAT THE WHOLE REASON THIS BLOODY PROGRAM EXISTS IN THE FIRST PLACE!

Lo usavo da anni, nella versione dell’App store, e recentemente con l’abbonamento sono passato alla versione Setapp. Che dire? È perfetto. Anche se è semplicissimo da usare, c’è sempre qualche nuova funzionalità da scoprire. Permette di gestire anche documenti Markdown su una propria cartella, non si è obbligati come in altri software ad usare un formato proprietario o un database. Io lo uso principalmente per scrittura creativa, per articoli o appunti tecnici preferisco altri strumenti, ma nulla vieta di usarlo come strumento tuttofare.

Ulysses is a wonderful and intuitive writing app. I would love to see more cross-application editing capability while keeping all the great features it already offers

Love it, just what I needed

No support for .mdx

The app starts losing data since these 2 month. The notes are automatically revert to old version and you can't find the latest note in back up.

Phenomenal. Writing perfection. The distraction-free mode is so good. I combine that with typewriter mode and my mechanical keyboard, and entering flow states becomes inevitable. Love this app, and so happy that it’s here on Setapp!
