The app works somehow good - but it have a wokeness to it i’m not agreeing with. i dont agree with how it interpret things. also, that i need to do this onboarding thing for every update or whatever it is is annoying. its absolute waste of my time that i repeatedly have to tell what i am going to use the app for, and enter my API key over and over again..

It surprised me very positively. I'm a "traditional" audio podcaster and am moving towards video and social media clips, posts, etc. WhisperTranscribe provides a lot of tools which are very useful, not only for social media, but also to prepare summaries, key talking points, fact checking, easy transcription editing and quick clips. A hidden gem, congrats to the developers.

It worked very well and was accurate.

It doesn’t work all the time; when it works, it’s amazing, but if you need this app for your daily workflow, it’s better to find an alternative. UI is great, simple to use, and subtitle creation is amazing.

It used to work fine. For the last 2 weeks transcriptions stopeed translating. I contacted the developer and supposedly we should have had a fix this week… Still waiting.

not finetuned enough in voice recognition

It spent $0.46 on my OpenAI account and didn’t finish the transcription. Limited to older GPT models. Not recommended.

i truly dont know how to use this. I tried to talk somethign and transcibed it accurate, however, so many options there and no guide.

using it with cursor for reducing keyboard use. works great!

I uploaded a file for transcription. It about the half of the file, consumed all my Setapp AI credits and asked for OpenAI key, and did not give me any output. That's unacceptable.

There are significant issues with the correct use of language, as the summaries of conversations conducted in languages other than English are sometimes produced in Chinese and sometimes in Spanish.

very genius app. and very useful. you can get the text if you can’t understand the voices very well + you can translate it in another language! keep up this great work!

Stopped working for me and i have setapp credits

Update March 2026: still using this regularly to very quickly transcribe and summarize text. I often it to grab specific clips as well. Amazing all-in-one transcription and video clip/audio creation tool. Plug in OpenAI API key and go.

WhisperTranscibe is underrated on Setapp. It works very well: accurate transcriptions, works on vidio files from a variety of sources, and works on local files.

The app seems like it COULD be good, but I tried one audio file and it chugged for a while before telling me I was out of SetApp credits, and then gave me… NOTHING. Like, what? You transcribed most of the file, took all my credits, didn’t tell me I didn’t have enough before it started, and now I have nothing to show for it? Apple Notes performs this feature for free. This app does a lot more, but half of the AI apps out there, it’s scammy in the way it does things. Thank you for nothing. Deleted.

This app is best of breed for my use cases. I have run into occasional trouble with the OpenAI API and the customer support has been attentive and useful. I record on other devices and drop the recordings here, the transcription is flawless and the templates are very useful. I have also used it to generate subtitles for videos and it was perfect.

this thing worked great for a day and now none of my transcriptions or analysis are present it just spins there. i spent like $20 in API costs over the weekend and now it looks like i'll be doing it all again?

DEPENDS ON YOUR USE CASE. Works fine as a local recording / transcription app. However, it will not record system audio so it isn’t good for recording online meetings. If you want to use it to transcribe live meetings or your own thoughts, it could be a good fit (or if you want to upload meeting recordings for transcription, but that is a lot of extra steps). If you are looking for an app to record and transcribe online meetings, you’ll need to use something else (like Jamie, Granola, Voice Notes, or similar).
