Solace is a dark mode app for Mac that hands you the dials macOS keeps to itself. Your Mac flips to dark at sunset on the dot, whether or not the room agrees. Solace lets you move that moment earlier or later, go dark when clouds roll in, set your exact screen warmth and when it starts, and pair a wallpaper with each mode. One blunt switch, turned into something that's actually yours, from a single menu bar icon.

Sunset, on your schedule

Your Mac switches at the clock's sunset. Solace follows your real local sunrise and sunset, then lets you shift either by up to an hour, so the change lands when your room actually dims, not a minute before.

Overcast at noon

Your Mac gets the memo. Grey skies can turn midday into dusk. Tell Solace how much cloud counts, from cloudy to overcast to gloomy, and it slips into dark mode when the weather agrees, hours ahead of any schedule.

Warmth you actually control

Night Shift gives you a slider and a bedtime. Solace gives you the whole dial, from crisp 6500K daylight to cosy 1900K candlelight, starting whenever you like. Fancy warm all day? Go on then.

Your times, or no schedule at all

Rather pick the hours yourself than trust the sun? Do that. Rather just flip it when the mood takes you? A keyboard shortcut switches the appearance from inside any app.

A wallpaper for day, another for night

Choose your own two, not just Apple's dynamic pair. Every display swaps the instant the mode changes, so the whole desk turns over together.

What's on your Mac stays there

No account, no analytics, nothing phoning home. Your location never leaves the machine, and it's only ever used to work out sunrise and sunset. Weather comes straight from Apple's WeatherKit.
