had skipped this app for a long time on setapp but decided to give it a try after gruber posted about it recently as a solution to macos active windows being hard to see and i have to say after a couple of days im lovingn it. one of those little background apps that make my setapp subscription worthwhile.

I like this app, for me I find that it works best when the effect is subtle, around 15%-20% ‘hazing’. Just enough for my eye to be drawn to focus on the active app window, but not enough to really notice the dimness elsewhere.

Excellent. Works on Tahoe. Solves the issue of of borderless white web app windows blending in with white windows behind them.

It’s a good application

On macOS Sequoia, ⌘-dragging the HazeOver menu bar icon to rearrange causes the app to quit. This happens because the menubar item doesn’t use Apple’s standard NSStatusItem (or doesn’t support isMovable = true on the statusItem.behavior). Please update it to use the system-compliant status item API so users can rearrange the icon natively without relying on Bartender. I'll change this review once that is fixed. Thanks.

It’s good, BUT it breaks the shortcuts Apple uses for window management: shift+fn+control left, right, up, down do not work for the out-of-focus 2nd window. It only moves the top window.

very nice app, the only thing that i think would be REALLY useful is an possibility to ad something like toggable active window border, cause dimming contents of all other windows is not always the most suitable solution. thank you for the great work!

Used to love this app but it hasn’t worked with a second monitor for the past year or so, dimming all windows on a secondary display despite having “Highlight windows even on displays without keyboard focus” selected in the settings. It has one job…

I really like this app and use it all the time. However, As some have also said, I want the ability to have more than one app highlighted. e.g. I am writing in the editor but I also want an app showing video open. Right now the video app is dimmed when it loses focus. Many thanks for the app.
