Your digital classroom buddies
Read, highlight, brainstorm
“I don’t remember anything from what I’ve just read.” Sounds familiar? Try changing how you read. Here’s the three-step flow we recommend. First, upload your reading materials to MarginNote, so you can interact with the text easily. This will let you annotate and create bookmarks as you read.
Next, notes. Taking notes shouldn’t be an exhausting chore. You can save notes right in MarginNote: Select the text and click the note icon on the overlay menu that pops up. And here comes our favorite part: You can also turn on the microphone and add your personal audio note, use the drawing tool, or attach photos.
Finally, make sure to visualize and analyze what you’re reading. MarginNote automatically adds your notes to a mind map on the left pane. Here, you can organize information and build connections between your notes.
If you notice your mind map getting bigger and more complex, take it to a dedicated mind mapping tool, MindNode. Pick from tons of tailored themes, designs, and diagrams to make your ideation process fun and pleasant. Plus, you’ll be able to share your mind map easily.
Keep a translator at hand
Foreign language involved? Mate Translate will help you streamline the translation process. It sits in your menu bar, easy to access. Just copy the text and paste it into Mate without choosing the input language — the app will recognize it automatically and give you an accurate translation.
Tip: Use TextSniper if you need to extract a foreign word or phrase from an image. Use Paste if you don’t want to translate words or phrases one by one — you can just save them to clipboard with Paste and translate later.
Retain what you've learned
Finally, Studies will help you actually remember what you've learned. Add flashcards with new concepts or words you discovered, and the app creates your personal study schedule.
