New twist on your Mac usage
Every app is its own universe. But if you link them together, you’ll have one connected space for convenient work. Link up files, notes, messages, reports, and whatnot across your apps, using contextual linking.
Contextual what?
It might take a minute to grasp the idea of contextual links, just because macOS doesn’t offer anything like that. But it’s easy: Copy a link to an item and hook it up to a different item.
Here’s how you can do it with Hookmark:
Control + H on a file, note, or any item on Mac, click the hamburger menu with the downward-pointing arrow, and choose Copy Link
Open any other item and paste the link you’ve copied or hit Command + H > Hook to Copied Link.
Pair Hookmark with your most-used apps
Link to notes and meeting templates
NotePlan is Notes on steroids. It has bidirectional links, so you can interlink your notes within the app. With Hookmark, you can also link those notes to text documents, PDF reports, and any other external resources.
We love NotePlan’s meeting templates and use them to create meeting notes. Hookmark lets us link those notes to our project management tools or the apps we use for brainstorming, such as MindNode. So when we get together to discuss a new idea, we can easily recall what we’ve talked about at the previous meeting by invoking meeting notes.
Link to mind maps
Speaking of mind mapping, MindNode covers all the basics — unlimited nodes, quick entry, stylish themes, what else is there to ask for? If you use mind maps in your work, try this app and don’t forget to link up the MindNode files to other resources belonging to the project.
Link to to activity reports
Whether you need activity reports to keep track of your billable hours or just use them to measure your productivity, we recommend Timing.
Activity tracking is pretty much automatic with this app: Timing will look at the apps you use and track when you worked on what. No need to start or stop the timer. Linking to your time reports could be useful for client reporting, accounting, or even a personal diary.
Link to to-do lists and reminders
GoodTask combines tasks, events, and reminders in one app, so your daily agenda is already all linked. And when you need to link your tasks or reminders externally — for example, to an email that has details about the task — just hook them up using Hookmark.
Hope this how-to will help you solve tasks faster, and enjoy solving them, too! Check out more how-tos picked for you below.
