I’m sure the app has plenty of useful features, but the current interface feels very confusing and unfocused. I would recommend starting with a simple welcome screen containing just two large, visually appealing options: **Extract** **Compress** The app could then display a different tabbed interface depending on which task the user selects. This would separate the two workflows and allow each screen to focus only on the relevant controls. The tabs would also expose features like “Encryption”, “Settings” ect. For example, after selecting **Compress**, the interface could guide the user through a clear sequence: 1. Choose the files or folders. 2. Select the compression settings. 3. Configure encryption, if required. 4. Click **Start**. This would make the workflow much easier to understand. At the moment, the interface feels as though too many unrelated options are presented at once, making the app unnecessarily difficult to understand and navigate. But features are good.

I love being able to Quick Look compressed files’ content without de-compressing them

Everything seemed great — until it unzipped only 10 out of 11 documents. Every other app, including the macOS built-in Archive Utility, extracted all 11 files without issue. I don’t know why this happens, but the inconsistency seriously undermines my confidence in BetterZip.

In an earlier version of this review I mentioned a problem I had encountered. I haven’t solved it (mainly due to my own lack of time), but I’m changing this review because the developer has been *extremely* responsive and detailed. You really couldn’t ask for more. The problem I encountered was a relatively rare situation, and I can’t be absolutely certain the app is the issue. Problems with apps are inevitable — every app will have them at some point — but developers like this are rare and they deserve our full support. In retrospect, I realize that I should have been more diligent in searching around to see whether others have had this problem too, because a review isn’t the place for customer support. So, for now, I want to give BetterZip a positive recommendation, and offer my apologies to the dev for not thinking this through more clearly. Thanks for your patience — and customer support!

Easy application to use

Uso BetterZip todos los días en mi MacBook Pro con chip M3 Pro y es simplemente esencial. Me permite inspeccionar, editar y extraer archivos comprimidos sin descomprimirlos por completo, lo cual agiliza mi flujo de trabajo técnico. Su velocidad, integración con macOS y compatibilidad con scripts Bash lo hacen ideal para automatizar respaldos, cuarentenas y reportes auditables. Es confiable, potente y muy intuitivo. Si trabajas con archivos comprimidos a nivel profesional, lo recomiendo totalmente.
