Remember when that meeting app was your secret weapon effortlessly recording every word, jotting notes like a pro, and letting you ping the AI mid-chat without missing a beat? 😎 We all relied on it to crush those endless Zoom marathons, turning chaos into clarity. But now? It's like they traded soul for sparkle. Those shiny new "updates" fancy visuals and pointless add-ons have wrecked the basics. Can't even ask the AI a question during a live call anymore. And get this: it straight-up admits it can't access recordings, so the chat? Total dead end. Poof gone. Worse, the analysis tools? Buried under clutter and junk, making them useless. This used to be THE go-to for smart, seamless meetings. Now it's all surface-level glam, ditching what actually mattered. Who's with me on this frustration train? Who's got a better app rec? Drop it below, let's save our sanity! 🚀 #AppFail #MeetingNightmares

J’adore l’appli mais très bugué, surtout lors du défilement dans les résumés, l’app crash souvent malgrès la récente grosse mise à jour v3. J’ai une puce M2 Pro

Response from Developer

Apr 8, 2026

App version: 3.0.0

Versão 3.0.0 continua encerrando a gravação. Já testei com as versões 2.2.0, 2.2.1, 2.2.2 e o problema permanece.

Response from Developer

Apr 8, 2026

App version: 2.1.2

Good idea, but I had to remove it because even after I quit the app, it continued meetings alerts and recording in the background without any additional confirmation from me.

Response from Developer

Feb 27, 2026

Thanks for the feedback and sorry for the confusion—since Spellar lives in your menu bar, it stays active to help with meetings unless you fully quit via the menu bar icon. You can easily turn off those automatic notifications and recording triggers in Settings or the menu bar so the app only runs when you want it to. We also just released v2.2.0 with a major redesign and much better controls—we’d love for you to give it another try!

App version: 2.1.0

It’s using 100% of CPU all the time, even when not recording anything.

Response from Developer

Feb 18, 2026

Thanks for reporting this — and sorry about the CPU usage. That’s not acceptable, especially when not recording We’ve shipped v2.1.2 with performance and reliability improvements. Please update and check CPU again in Activity Monitor If it’s still high, email [email protected] with a screenshot of Activity Monitor + your macOS version, and we’ll investigate it with you

App version: 2.0.2

The latest version 2.0.1 is crashing and is completely unusable. It also uses way too much CPU and drains battery inexcusably fast.

Response from Developer

Feb 18, 2026

Sorry about that — a meeting assistant shouldn’t drain battery or crash We’ve released v2.1.2 with major stability and performance improvements. Please update to 2.1.2 and see if CPU/battery behavior is back to normal If it still drains quickly, reach out to [email protected] (or Slack) with your macOS version + Mac model + which meeting app you use (Zoom/Meet/etc.). We’ll follow up 🙏

App version: 3.0.2

Buggy, poor results. Developer is unresponsive to tweets or any other communication. Abandonware.

Response from Developer

Apr 8, 2026

Hi Chris, we hear you — and we're far from abandoned. We've just released v3.1.0 with major stability and quality improvements. Please give it a try and if you run into anything, reach out to us directly in our community at https://slack.spellar.ai or at [email protected] — we're here and responsive.

App version: 3.0.1

This app helps me a lot with all my meetings. Amazing!

App version: 2.2.2

I gave up. Crashes on record, so I’ve not seen how well it transcribes. Outlook integration pulls in some but not all meetings. Doesn’t support connections to more than one account. Doesn’t include iOS version. High CPU usage. Can’t specify alternative endpoints like Openrouter or whatever. It’s a shame because it looked promising.

Response from Developer

Apr 8, 2026

Hi Mo, sorry to hear that. A lot has changed since v2.2.2 — we've just released v3.1.0 with major improvements, new features, crash fixes, and better Outlook integration. We'd love for you to give it another shot. If anything comes up, we're at [email protected] or our community at https://slack.spellar.ai 🙏

App version: 2.1.2

It pains me to say this but what was once my favourite app is now useless to me. It crashes constantly even after constant updates and i need to force quit everytime, it doesnt record meetings it used to handle with ease.. i’d much rather have version 1 back any day

Response from Developer

Feb 18, 2026

Hey, really sorry about this 💔 If Spellar is still crashing for you on v2.1.2, that’s not acceptable and we want to fix it ❤️‍🩹 We’re preparing v2.2.0 with further reliability improvements, but please email us at [email protected] (or message our Slack community) with your macOS version + Mac model + what happens right before the crash. Our engineering team will follow up directly and help you get back to a stable setup 🙏

App version: 2.1.0

# 2.1.0 After updating to version 2.1.0, the issue where the app freezes when opening meeting reports remains unresolved. Additionally, a critical bug has emerged where neither Apple Calendar nor Google Calendar displays at all. This update offers absolutely no improvements. Did you even test this properly before release? # 2.0.2 It became possible to record normally in version 2.0.2. However, when I display the Meeting Report, the app randomly freezes. I can effectively avoid this with Notion integration. The app’s quality is still low. # 2.0.0 After updating to 2.0.0, Spellar AI stopped working entirely. When I start recording, the app freezes and I have to force quit it. Cards without recordings keep piling up in the folder, requiring me to manually delete them repeatedly. Please let me downgrade to 1.x.

Response from Developer

Feb 18, 2026

thank you for the very detailed report, and sorry for how rough 2.0.x / 2.1.0 was. You’re absolutely right to expect this to be rock-solid The good news: we’ve shipped v2.1.2, and it fixes the freezing issues (including Meeting Reports) and the calendar display problem you described. Please update to 2.1.2 and try again — you should see a noticeably more stable experience If anything still feels off after updating, we’d really appreciate a quick note to [email protected] or in our Slack community. We’re extremely active there: we read every report, follow up directly, and ship improvements based on what users tell us

App version: 2.0.2

I would love for this app to work but right now find it too prone to errors. It is not reliable. It randomly stops recording meetings while they are still in progress for reasons I can’t determine and the user interface is not clear so that it is really hard to see what is going on and manipulate while you’re actually trying to focus and participate in the meeitng. I just got off an hour-long meeting and the Spellar window was showing recording the whole time, but when it went to process the meeting notes there were only the first 4 minutes recorded.

Response from Developer

Feb 18, 2026

I’m really sorry — that’s exactly the situation Spellar must handle reliably. We’ve shipped v2.1.2, which improves recording reliability and overall stability. Please update to 2.1.2 and test again If it still stops early or only processes part of the meeting, please reach out to [email protected] (or our Slack community) with your macOS version + meeting app + meeting length. We’ll investigate and help you get it stable. Also — thank you for the UI feedback; we’re actively improving clarity

App version: 2.0.2

Really disappointing. It was once one of my favorite apps, but now it doesn’t work on Intel Macs. New updates have made it very unreliable.

Response from Developer

Apr 8, 2026

Hi, thank you for the feedback. We've just released v3.1.0 with significant improvements for Intel Mac support. Please update and give it another try — we'd love to win you back. If issues persist, reach out at [email protected] and we'll help directly.

Version 3 wont record anything… most of my meeting recordings are now empty

Response from Developer

Apr 8, 2026

Hi Rajat, sorry about this. We've just released v3.1.0 with many recording fixes — this should resolve the empty recordings issue. Please update and try again. If it persists, email us at [email protected] and we'll look into your account directly.

Mark

App version: 2.2.0

Yes, it can be a resource hog. It's doing *a lot*. It also can be persistent, difficult to force quit. All those caveats out of the way, it's the best application I know of for being able to quickly capture and summarize meetings, particularly those that don't have native recording.

Response from Developer

Feb 27, 2026

Thanks for the honest review, Mark! We're thrilled Spellar is your go-to for meeting capture. We hear you loud and clear on the performance side—we are fully committed to improving reliability, resource usage, and the app's persistence behavior to make it lighter and smoother to control. Our team is listening to all feedback and feature requests directly in our community, we'd love to see you there: https://slack.spellar.ai 🫶

App version: 2.1.2

For anyone experiencing issues with freezing, crashing, or strange transcriptions, I recommend trying Amie. It's also included in Setapp and doesn't have those problems.

Response from Developer

Feb 18, 2026

Thanks for the honest feedback — and sorry you ran into freezes/crashes. Reliability is non-negotiable for us We’ve been investing heavily into stability and shipped major fixes in v2.1.2. Also, we’ve recently expanded our team, so you’ll see improvements and new features shipping much faster from here If you’re open to giving Spellar another try and anything still feels off, please message us at [email protected] or in our Slack community — we’re very active there, we hear every report, and we ship improvements based directly on what users ask for

I really like the possibilities it offers in terms of summarizing calls. The only drawback at the moment is that it freezes very often and I have to close the app.
