Fine-tune routine with these apps
There are apps that are just there for you, almost unnoticeably simplifying everyday actions and tasks on Mac. Make sure you integrate them into your routine if you haven’t yet.
For screen capturing
If you still use Shift-Command-4 to take screenshots, it’s time to up your game. Replace the default macOS screenshot utility with a more functional CleanShot X — it has scrolling capture, screenshot timer, internal cloud, and a really impressive suite of annotation and editing tools.
Copy text from images using TextSniper. It’s easy: choose Capture Text, “take a screenshot” of the text inside the visual, and see it copied to clipboard in a sec.
For file management
Just like you can’t carry all your grocery bags sometimes, you can’t manage too many files simultaneously. Drop anything you need to keep at hand to Yoink’s shelf.
Instantly recall recent files and folders, including the ones synced from the cloud. You can navigate to your recents via the menu bar app or use the expanded Open and Save dialog.
And to elevate your file search process, install HoudahSpot. Search by file type, name, date, and whatnot, combining different search criteria.
For efficient browsing
Instead of making your way through all the tabs and windows, use Slidepad — a single window that slides in and out, giving you access to your favorite websites.
If you visit 3+ news sites per day, it makes sense to curate them into one handy RSS feed. News Explorer can handle it all, from your go-to media outlets to social media.
There are websites you almost never close. MenubarX can help you maintain their presence in your Mac life by bringing them into the menu bar.
