Three apps for a perfect connection
Few things are as frustrating as a laggy Wi-Fi network, especially when you need it the most. These apps can analyze your network connection and boost its performance.
Find the best Wi-Fi channel
Choosing the proper Wi-Fi channel can improve your network coverage and performance. WiFi Signal can tell you which channel you're currently on and if you should switch to a different one. To use this feature, open the app Preferences > General and select "Show channel recommendations."
If the app suggests a different channel, you can change it on your router's configuration webpage. Besides channel recommendations, WiFi Signal is handy for quick monitoring of essentials like signal strength, speed, noise, and more.
Avoid dead spots
NetSpot is a go-to app for planning out a Wi-Fi network in your apartment or office. The app can scan your room or the entire floor to build a heatmap of your network. This way, you can quickly identify spots with the strongest and weakest signal.
To create a heatmap, jump to the Survey mode and click "Create new." If you've found weaker spots in your Wi-Fi coverage, you may want to move the router or switch to a different, less crowded channel.
Troubleshoot Wi-Fi issues
When your Wi-Fi network isn't performing as it should, WiFi Explorer steps in. The app can identify common Wi-Fi issues, such as channel conflicts, overlapping, or configuration problems, and gives tips on how to resolve them.
Ready to dive in? Select your network and open the right sidebar for a list of issues and recommendations.
