Filepane

Nothing sits on your screen until you start dragging. The moment you do, a small drop disc fades in near your cursor. Drop files, folders, images, PDFs, links or selected text on it — or press ⌃F to summon it anywhere, and ⌃⇧F to act on whatever's on your clipboard.

On drop, the area becomes a compact action bar built around your file. Images get resize, crop, convert, markup and set-as-wallpaper. PDFs get compress, merge, convert-to-images and print. Anything gets zip (with a password if you like), share, copy path, rename, and move.

Drag a URL into FilePane to capture the whole web page as a PDF, PNG, or JPEG — or pull out just the article as a clean, clutter-free PDF or Markdown. Download linked files to any folder with progress, make a QR code, copy a clean URL or Markdown link, or save it as a .webloc. Login-walled page? Open it in a window, sign in, then capture.

Keys 1–9 fire the actions specific to your file; Q W E R T Y cover the common ones across every type; ⌫ trashes, esc steps back. They're printed right on the bar, so there's nothing to memorise. Prefer the mouse? Everything is also a single click.

Keep a list of favorite folders — Desktop, Documents, Downloads, or any folder you add — and move or copy a dropped file into any of them with a single number key. Hold ⌥ to flip between move and copy on the fly, or ⇧ + a number to browse subfolders and even create a new one on the spot.

Convert between PNG, JPEG, HEIC, WebP, TIFF, and BMP, or turn images into a PDF at the DPI you choose. Crop, rotate, flip, resize, and mark up in a built-in editor with undo and redo. Merge several images or PDFs into one document — even password-protected PDFs — reorder, rotate, and preview pages, then save.
