JoyMix is a per-app sound mixer for Mac, tucked into the menu bar. Set volume, mute, and audio routing for each app separately — send YouTube to the speakers while Zoom stays on AirPods, mute Slack without quieting the music, and boost a quiet podcast past the system maximum. Switch microphones or outputs from the same popup, no detour through Sound Settings. One click in the menu bar, then back to work.

JoyMix features

Mix every app independently

Each app gets its own volume slider and mute. Slack quieter than Spotify, Zoom muted while a podcast plays, system sounds tucked down to a polite background — set it once, JoyMix remembers next time the app starts.

Send each app to its own output

Route any running app to any speaker, headphone, or virtual device. YouTube on the desk speakers while Zoom stays on AirPods. Apps you haven't redirected keep flowing to your system default like always.

Switch input and output from the menu bar

Pick the active microphone, system output, and the device for system sounds — without diving into System Settings. Each one's a single click in the same popup.

Boost quiet apps past 100%

When an app is just too soft no matter how high you turn the system, JoyMix lifts it above the maximum with built-in protection so the sound doesn't break or distort. Up to 4× the gain, per app.

Doesn't touch what you haven't changed

Apps you haven't customized run through macOS untouched. JoyMix only steps in for apps you've actually set up — slide a volume back to 100%, route back to default, and that app behaves exactly like it would without JoyMix installed. No surprise to the sound, no extra battery hit.

I cant use it. it shows a notification saying “You’re all set! - click the icon to close this tip.” but it shows up under the notch and does not appear to be associated with an ICON. It NEVER goes away and there is no ICON to manipulate the app. Im on an M4 Macbook with current OS and patches

Great job! Would be better if it can replace the default sound icon on menu bar by adding global mute and the icon should also reflect the status (mute or unmute). I would definitely replace the default sound control with JoyMix. Again, keep up the good works, team!

Appears for a second in the menu bar, then crashes. I’m using Tahoe 26.5.1 (25F80). Thanks for this app, can’t wait for you to fix this bug so I can start using it ! 😄
