Kinetic is a fast, native Git client for Mac that shows you what a command will do before it runs. Stage single lines, scroll a commit history you can actually read, and sort out conflicts one block at a time. If you slip up, Undo takes it back, even after a relaunch. Hit the ✨ button and Setapp AI reads your staged changes, then writes the message. It runs on your Setapp AI credits, so there’s nothing to set up. Prefer your own tools? Claude Code, Codex, or a local model with Ollama work too. AI stays off until you switch it on.
Stage exactly the lines you mean
Select a few lines or point at a hunk, then stage, unstage, or discard just that. Switch between unified and side-by-side diffs. Syntax highlighting covers over 30 languages.
Every command, one shortcut away
Press ⌘P and type what you want. Git mode works like a tiny terminal, with hints for forty common commands and autocomplete for branches and files. With AI on, say it in plain words, like “squash my last three commits,” and Kinetic suggests the commands. Nothing runs until you press Return.
A history you can actually read
The commit graph stays smooth however long your history gets. Search by message, author, hash, or even the code itself. Click any commit to see its dates, signature, and parents.
Rebase and conflicts, minus the drama
Reorder, reword, squash, fix up, or drop commits in an interactive rebase you can run from the keyboard. When conflicts show up, pick ours, theirs, or both, side by side. Then continue, or abort.
Undo for Git. Yes, really
Commits, resets, checkouts, and branch changes can all be taken back, even after a relaunch. Risky commands get flagged before they run. A force push never overwrites work you haven’t seen.
