Rook Widgets

Rook draws every widget as part of the same instrument panel, not a collection of floating windows. Clocks, weather, reminders, focus timers, habit trackers, notes, Apple Music controls, system stats, stocks, moon phase, and sunrise/sunset — all from 12 categories of live data, laid out like a single machine on your wallpaper.

Scanlines, phosphor glow, and mono terminal type aren't applied as filters — they're drawn per widget, tuned to each theme. The result looks like a working CRT console on your desktop, not a screenshot of one.

Rook ships with themes that cover the whole aesthetic range: four phosphor terminal looks (green, amber, teal, ice blue), three print styles (mono, paper, sepia), three Classic Mac finishes (platinum, light, dark), and a native macOS theme that follows your system's light and dark mode. Change the theme once and every widget already on your desktop updates instantly.

These widgets aren't just for show. Check off a reminder. Start a focus session and watch the countdown running on your wallpaper. Skip or pause tracks from the Apple Music remote. Log a glass of water or mark off a habit. The desktop responds the moment you tap.

System stats — CPU, memory, GPU, network, storage — refresh as often as every 30 seconds. The focus timer and stopwatch tick in real time. The daylight arc tracks the actual sun for your city. Stocks update live. Your desktop is always current, not a snapshot.

Rook lives in your menu bar. Close the window and it steps out of the Dock — every widget keeps running. There's no account to create, no data leaving your Mac, and no cloud sync to worry about. Everything runs locally, on your machine.
