Are you ready for a brand new MacBook size? Rumor has it, Apple is gearing up to release a 14-inch MacBook Pro! With the currently available 13 and 16-inch models, a new size would be a welcome addition (although MacWorld reports it might actually replace the 13-inch model).

In this post, we are listing all the bits and pieces of info we’ve been able to find on the possible new release, the device’s expected characteristics, projected price, as well as its release date.

Let’s dive in.

Release date

While the rumored release date for the new MacBook Pro size keeps getting pushed, Tom’s Guide shares that the laptops are expected in the second half of 2021, likely third quarter. The publication also reminds us that new MacBook models often get released in the May-July window or October-November.

Specs

If you are just getting used to Apple’s M1, get ready for an even better chip as the next generation processor is likely to be used for the new MacBook. Tom’s Guide reports that the current M1 is likely getting an upgrade and the 8-core processor might even end up replaced with an uber-powerful 20-core one.

The screen is also rumored to be all new on the upcoming MacBook Pro update. The usual LCD might get swapped for a brighter, higher contrast mini-LED, as shared by MacRumors citing a report by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Design

In another Kuo report cited by MacRumors, a redesign is possibly coming to the new model – the 14-inch MacBook Pro might match your new iPhone with a signature flat-edged design introduced with the iPhone 12 lineup (well, re-introduced, as it’s been used on older iPhones a few generations back).

The same report insists that Touch Bar is no more, but the magnetic MagSafe charger connector might actually be back. Plus, more ports are rumored to be added to the new model.

Price

While we can only guess how much the new MacBook Pro 14-inch might cost, it’s safe to assume that the current price of the 13-inch Mac pro is a good indicator of a ballpark for the new model.

Official Apple website shows the price for the 13” starts at $1,299. With all the new and improved specs for the 14” model, it looks unlikely that it will be cheaper and probably reasonable to go as far as expect a price hike.
